We were in 1st level of day 2 1.5k/3k blinds. The UTG player just moved to table shoved for 34k, I’m in mid position with 77 and 74k. I call as soon as I did I was wishing I isolated instead. folds to jessica dawley in the small blind she jams for 90k. fold back to me.

So I have to call 40k into a pot of 148k so getting 3.7 to 1. So I need 21% to call. I put her on a range of 10s+ and AK maybe AQ, just using first range against jessica I have 29%, less when I add in UTG, that I feel I am ahead of.

If I call I still have 13 BB against a good table that will call too tight to my shoves.

Isolating would have made these decisions much easier. I call after tanking for 2 min. UTG has A6 off, and Jessica had JJ. Neither improves and Jessica rakes pot. In retrospect I think its a fold even getting these odds, b/c there are so many plus EV spots with my short stack vs this spot. Thoughts?

You should have just folded the 77s pre with other players still to act behind you i really dont like the flat there at all with a 20bbs stack size , if you thought that the blinds may squeeze a flat there can be ok to induce a squeeze but im only doing that with KK or AA.

Start of day 2 so take it you still had a while before you got ITM ?

if you think your ahead of UTG jam, an iso jam is prob best for that spot and  the pressure on the players left to act taking there stack sizes and how argo they are in consideration. a flat there is pretty much the worst paly you could make there IMO its all in or fold.

As played you have only left yourself around 10bbs after the flat so your are committed to that pot.

i assume the antes in play would be around 375 so the total pot after the BB squeeze would be more like 164k so your getting 4:1 to make that call with a 10bb stack left its a snap call, just got unlucky bb woke up with jacks .

with all that being said folding and leaving yourself 13bbs and you feel you can shove into tight players pick up few more pots and possibly DU to get to where you stack was at initially is also a play that some would take also depending on your table how close you are till the bubble etc etc

Be interesting to know Andrew or Matts thoughts.
