hey
reads – v has been very active , they’ve been isolating one opponent like always, they do seem aggressive.
May i just say the line i took was check/shove flop , i don’t think thats terrible as such as we really do have a hand thats has a lot of equity vs alot of v calling range pre i also think we do have fold equity and we may even get v to fold Ax here. Thoughts on that?
another line would be to c/r flop , bet turn and shove river or bet flop/turn and shove river.Which rivers we should shove on depends on what we think v range is and our bluff target.
I had a really good stack in this tourney and i feel that i just spewed it by check shoving here , whether it was profitable or not i really dont know , but in all honesty i reckon it was not terrible either way as we have tons of equity and fold equity. Average stack in this tourney was at like 30k, so my stack was actually decent , if i’m gong to win this tourney im going to have take some sorta risk and marginal spots so yeah i liked my play to a certain extent lol.
thoughts please?
cheers.

Yeah fapy I get that you’re trying to find a way to make the last bet, but I agree with florian that this is a board that so strongly favors your pre-flop range that you should just bet-bet-bet. One thing to keep in mind is that it’s actually quite bad for you if V checks back the flop. Many of the hands you’d like to target with your bluff, such as KQ, will be unhappy to see 2 – 3 barrels and very happy to check back the flop and call a bet on a blank turn (or check again and get closer to showdown). When devising bluff lines, try to think about how you’d play the strong hands in your range rather than just what you want to accomplish with your current cards.

@foucault,That makes a lot of sense. If I had a hand a strong hand like a set or two pair , i would of thought checking cant be bad because if v has Ax in their range they are likely to bet these OTF (unless they are checking back weak ax) and if they have draws in their range like T 9 they’ll likely bet those as well which then we can then opt for a c/r. If v were going to check back on this flop we could assume that flush draws are highly discounted from v range and Ax, if the turn is a club that should not be a scared card for us. we can then bet turn and river to get value from maybe 2ed pair hands or maybe even weaker Ax hands which they could of checked back otf. turn cards like a Q/J/T , im not to sure about , i mean if v had a hand like JT (gutshot draws), they’ll likely bet these when checked to as well. I do agree though with the bet/bet/bet line. I reckon we can get a lot of folds here from Kx and maybe even good Ax.
v called with AQo, do you think they would of folded that if the turn came say 3 and river was 8?

I doubt it, but I think you know that’s now how you should be assessing your play anyway (that is, by thinking whether the outcome of this specific hand would have been different if you took a different line).
FWIW, I know some people will do it, but I think betting AT or even AJ would be pretty bad for the Villain. And giving him a chance to check those back is pretty bad for you.
