Yeah i was thinking about c/r turn after i had played this hand. how much are you c/r here? im gussing around 2.8k? or do you prefer check shoving? i’m trying to figure out how we will balance a c/r raising range or a check/shoving range. In this spot are you willing to check shove with this exact hand if the turn was a blank? or would you rather c/r to 2.8k or around that just as you would do that when you do hit your straight?
The thing is im not to sure if we have hardly any FE because this board hits the PR raiser range pretty damm hard, right?

i’m assuming once you’ve c/r small ott with your bluff range your then shoving most rivers whether your draw gets there or not. You could also represent a flush otr if a spade gets there when u have a hand like a missed straight draw.
JL always says how large extravagant bluffs are almost always -EV in tournaments and that is why he bets the river mostly for river for value. He’s saying how players just don’t fold top pair so you’ll get called more often then not. As much as i respect him as a poker player i disagree i think many players will fold top pair.
In his book he gives an example “bluffing on the river”, so you raise to 3bbs out of your 150bb stack with AJdd and the big blind calls, the flop is Qs9d6c you make a standard c-bet of 4bb and v calls , the turn is Ks , your opponent checks and you decide to bet 9bb on the turnhoping he folds, but he calls. The river is a 2d, and your opponent checks. This is a terrible spot to bluff because if your opponent had something on the turn, he probably isn’t folding. He could have a flush draw, but even then you still have the best hand. The only thing you may be able to bluff is Q-J or Q-10 , and he’ll sometimes call even then.If instead of AJ you have J8, you should just give up river because most of your opponents wont fold. You might bet a small amount to push him off a busted flush draw , but even that is pushing it. If an opponent tells you he had a hand by calling on the flop and turn , especially you have any showdown value, you should check behind on the river.
thoughts on this?

here from outside i say as played depending on sizing i am thinking of check/folding this river.we do not block any of villains value combos and are blocking with the Q alot of his bluff combos.
He can value bet worse though (although we do block AQ and AT). It would have to be a pretty big bet for me to fold.

@EvilKermit , if we c/r the flop i’m not to sure if v is folding that often for it to be profitable, the board connects well with the pre flop raisers perceived range and with us it does not.I’m not to sure if we should be c/r turn as a bluff either as the turn has likely improved v range though it can also be a good turn for v to barrel. I think we should be c/r the turn more for value as there’s a lot of 2ed best hands that v with call with. If the turn was a spade i.e. 8 we could represent the flush , i’m not sure though if v will fold a hand like AJ/AK ott if they have those, probably unlikely..but they may fold Q-J K-Q ott.If we do c/r turn we should be prepared to shove most rivers to try to get v to fold a hand like AQ, AJ and AK. thing is in a small tourney like this i doubt many players are folding two pair.
