Without reads your only beating air…I fold, het bet roughly 2/3 pots on river, I dont think we are good often enough here to call.

So here's his line: PF call, post flop c-bet float, turn check with position, river…..could  have seen a showdown for free, or he could do a value bet. 2/3 pot on the river just seems to scream “fold you bitch”. I'm not too keen on calling here either, but his line doesn't make any sense. I should expect at least a bet on the turn with a Q or pairs higher than 77.

What do you think about a shove here on this river bet? I think the way he played he doesn't have AA, KK, QQ or AQ. Probably can't call me with 55 or 66….

I don't think you can call here profitably. All you can catch is a bluff on this and I am not sure it is there enough of the time to make the call worth it. Fold and move to the next one.

I think his line does make sense, because lots of people check back on a street, particularly the turn,  with top pair type hands for pot control.  It's the dryest of flops, so he's not drawing.  I just think you gotta fold.

A shove ove rhis river bet is the last thing I would do…you will only get called by hands that beat you. I could see him betting a lot of hands on the river that beat us  55,66,99. He could play a set like this also. We are turning a hand that has little show down value at the river based on the action into a stone cold bluff. What are you representing taking that line?

jdog is wise… agree with everything he says.

2/3 screams value.  He thinks you have a hand that wants to get to showdown.  He checks back the turn for deception/pot control.  Now he's got you thinking of shoving a tiny pair.  That's why you bet 2/3 on the river with strong hands against a guy who clearly has a bluff catcher.

Cool….guess I just hated him doing this so I wanted to justify calling. I did end up shoving him….he folded. Wasn't the right play though…and I think my gut told me that, thus the reason I wanted to post it.

Glad the play worked out but more times than not it will be -EV imo. A thinking player then tries to decide what hand you would play that way and the only possible hands are maybe 88 or 78, I think you get looked up a ton here.
