Alright Pros…Two questions…I want to know is what was the first tourney you remember winning that put you on your way to wanting to play this game professionally?  Also, how long did it take you to get out of the micros/small stakes to grinding the mid to high stakes?  Would love to know answers to these two questions.  Thanks.

good questions.. i also would be glad to have those answers 🙂

I would also add one to complete good and bad scenarios:

which were the hardest moments as poker players to get over it?yell.. (i mean losing a high stakes MTT, a live event, thoughts about quitting poker, etc, and how long it took to recover from that nightmare and positive experience you could extract from it)

First big win for me was a Step 6 win on Stars heads up against Sorel for $12.5K.  Chose to keep the money instead of play the main event, which gave me the bankroll to move up to midstakes.

That is an awesome score KB, I have been watching you run deep nightly as well in the late tourneys. Best of luck on your next big score.

My first big score was a win in a $10 bodog tourney on 1/1/06.  I won 1500.  Up to that point I would deposit 50 bucks and just lose it.  I lost most of that 1500 but in that time I had discovered 2+2 and bankroll management.  I deposited about 300 on PokerStars and FTP and built it to about 3k playign 10/180s (before they became 12/180s turbos) and then I took a shot at the nightly 50/50 (now the 70k).  I shipped it for 13k and haven't looked back.  🙂

won a 5 dollar on stars for 1500 dollars in early 2005 that gave me some semblance of a bankroll.

Moved up to high stakes in late 2007 after playing low-stakes for probably four years.  Won a 100 dollar on stars for 9600 in august of 2007.

had a huge issue with trying to get a job or play professionally.  Had a lot of success, but struggled with both the perception of poker players and if it would be fiscally responsible.  Ended up deciding to just “try it for a year” since I had graduated college pretty young and had some money saved.  This is my 4th year doing this now.

I won a $5 2,000 player tourney on PartyPoker back in I think 2005.  Would love to be able to see that hand history cause I can only imagine how awful I must have played.

i won one of the 24+2s on FTP for ~6k which turned poker into a serious hobby instead of a once-in-a-while hobby. after that there was a lot of banging my head against the wall in the small-midstakes, going busto, and then getting backed before i started beating the midstakes consistently.

and even then it wasn't until i won the UB 200k that i decided to “go pro” as it were. that was ~3 years ago and i seriously think about quiting poker at least once a year.
