Hi huys,

Have a question about rebuys mtt.

So we are still in the rebuy period.

Starting stack 1500 chips rebuy 1500 chips, so total starting stack 3000, cause I always take the maximum

Minimum to rebuy is 1499 or less

If sombody stacks me with his 2500 stack, then I have 500 left.

What should I do?

take 1 rebuy so 500+1500 gives me 2000

or should I trow my 500 in(and hope that I will lose them), so that i can rebuy the full 3000?

or should I try build my stack back with my 500?

Personally, I don’t like the idea of forcefully throwing it away as I imagine/hope to have an edge at the table any stack size. Given that, I want to have the max they’ll give me. That would be a single rebuy. I don’t know if this is quantifiable which would be better, but I feel like an additional buy-in isn’t worth 2/3 of a stack, ya know?

The only reason rebuying (or entering the tournament at all) is profitable is because you have the ability to invest those chips in +EV situations. Deliberately making a -EV play with 1/3 of a starting stack in order to have the opportunity to make a slightly profitable rebuy is probably not a good idea. Also because of the declining value of tournament chips, the first 1500 you buy is worth more than the second 1500. So I’d recommend taking the first rebuy and then play as usual. If you happen to lose a few pots and get to the point where you can rebuy again, go for it. If not, then the value of the chips you saved by not making -EV plays was most likely greater than whatever you missed out on by not being able to rebuy again.
