Pre is fine, you're probably not checking a ten or an overpair on the turn, so your river bet isn't super credible here. You could be going for thin value with a hand like 66-88, but I wouldn't expect you to show up with much often here in the villain's perspective. Your line is good for getting paid off by hands like mid/bottom pair, not for bluffing IMO.

Definitely need to raise bigger pre. I'd make it like 240 or something. Don't really think you are getting many folds on this flop, but c-bet cant be that bad because there are turn cards you can barrel (any broadway card). He's also never folding a pair on the river once you bet so we just have to check back and give up.

Misread the hand, didn't see the 2 limps up front. Make it 210-270 pre.

Is this a strategy post or a bad beat post. Not sure that the OP is looking for advice? I think hand is played fine by the OP, except for the river bet. Bet sizing looks good throughout, IMO. I don’t think a bigger bet PF drives anyone else out of the hand and just bloats the pot.

Dont like the bet on the river. If you are trying to take down the pot, i think you have to pull the trigger and overbet or jam the pot to get a fold. That move would be highly read dependent and we weren’t supplied with read info in the post. Doubt OP has any read at this blind level.

Check back the river for showdown value.

I was looking to see how everyone might play ak at this lvl vs these kinds of players as well. But these calling stations pre are pretty bad:) Guess I’ll raise more pre but they still won’t fold and it’s still early. Not a bad beat though, more like confusing how they play like this and I just thought it was funny as well.

to small pre isnt that ur raise with no linpers? 2,5? so after 2 limpers u keep the size?:) 250+- sounds better, and ur line its not that good, what he s folding to ur bet after u check turn ? nothing ..so dont see the point for betting ,if a hi is good,u take the pot with check back,if its not u almost ever loose the pot by betting there

Just jumping on the badwaggon here. Definitely prefer a bigger raise preflop, disagree with ShortStackJack that it only serves to bloat the pot – the idea is to build a pot but also to isolate or at least deter further callers here, the small raise won't do that.

When he calls the flop he often has a small pp there given how he played the hand, and sometimes AJ etc. I like checking back turn and for same reason don't like betting the river. You can only really represent a mid pp (often he won't be trying to range you, but he will often see this line as weak) and so he is going to call down with any piece of it.

Yeah I agree. Against players who are good post you turn your hand face up essentially imo though.

is that a good argument for doing it with air sometimes v competent opponents? or triple barreling super thin since TPTK is out of range they can bluff catch wider

I’m clearly not much of a theorist. But it makes sense that we should do it with air sometimes against those players, If we do it with the kind of hand Benny talked about.

The style of poker I play, I prefer to triple barrel thin there for the reason you just described. Seems like it works a lot with my image. A lot of players cringe at this idea though.

P.s. it’s like the quote box refuses to show up when Im on my phone.
