I like to go over my hand historys that I mark out on my tracker , discuss different situations with some top MTT reg friends I have.

I dont read books anymore been there done that

I watch some streams also

I will post the odd scenario in a forum as well

Training videos……   As i consider myself a decent MTT player myself I find watching training videos very boring , theres nothing I see i dont know or do myself . I know that videos there are some bad one and some great ones and they can be great for someone learning to improve there game.

but as i feel i am at a certain level in my game I an finding any poker video i watch pretty pointless unless you could possibly tell me any videos to watch for an already good MTT player.

I suggest reevaluating your stance on training videos. Every human has an individual approach to any given subject. As an expert in my own industry I will still attend talks and training. Even if only 1% of the subject matter gets me thinking (which would be low) it is worth it as that 1% can trigger new creative thinking and cause a minor revolution in how I approach some situation. I believe this is what leading experts do to remain leading. Poker can’t be any different. In fact, small edges are arguably a lot more important in poker.

I also find it true that studying some material can yield completely different things at different stages of personal development. A simple example is reading a book series like Lord of the Rings at 14 years old versus 30 years old. A poker example… if I watch a video series about 3-betting strategy while new to the concept I get a fire hose of information, of which I am hoping to retain maybe 10%. Later I might watch the same series and find only a trickle of new information but if Mr. “aaaaaaaa” clicks a hand in a range construction that I might not have considered it might trigger some personal introspection that could lead to a new area of improvement, or even just something to try out.

In summary, I think it is unlikely that listening to someone talk about a subject of interest for 5 hours should yield nothing. It may not be the video that is at fault. I hope that doesn’t come off as harsh. I’m just trying to make a point.

Watch Andrew Brokos series on range construction and tell me you didn´t learn anything.. After watching it, going through one hand in your hand history will take you at least a couple of hours. Imo the best video series I´ve watched and very humbling, I realised how little I know even after having played poker for years.

Yes with respect Mr. Jam I find that a pretty…hmm…I don’t wish to offend you but it sounds pretty arrogant.

Maybe that is too strong a word.

For all I know you really are at a level where you do not find value in any or many videos.

But as MovieFX says even if 1%of the subject matter helps to improve your game then that is worth something.

Personally I am yet to view a series at TPE  where I have learned nothing, then again maybe this is because I suck at poker.

There is always value in watching and studying how others think about the game…even worse players IMHO.

With regards to Smartapa’s comment about Andrew’s Range Construction series, forget about me watching the series and learning, I had to review each video multiple times before I even comprehended the material…and multiple more times before I felt I had digested it…I probably spent 50 hours+ on that series alone.

When reviewing your hands or a complete tournament, discussing with friends etc. When you find spots that you need to work on, whatever part of your game that might be I’d recommend looking for videos that might include that.

In general, watching and re-watching Andrew Brokos series can never be a waste of time.

You might be in a spot where you should get yourself a really good coach that can break down your game and try to find improvement if you feel that you don’t gain anything from watching videos, reading etc.

I wouldn’t watch streams from a learning perspective, only for pure entertainment. If you think you can’t learn anything from watching videos I doubt you can learn anything from watching streams.
