Villain is a mid stakes reg. running 16/8 over 400+ hands. I'm currently 2nd in chips with about 20 players left.
I've also been calling opens a bit and making some aggressive plays in pos. I've never seen villain make a play like this before.

That is an ugly spot. I might find a fold in some rare ICM cases, but most of the time im calling and expecting to see AK sometimes, AQ rarer and some really spewy hands ever now and then.

Donks do this with AK and JJ, but you say this guy is good? Obv he has KK and peeked at your hand.
No, but seriously, if he does this with KK+, you just bought yourself a monster note, which can be as valuable as a cash if he is a reg at your stakes.
Honestly, it looks like a misclick to me.

Think this is quite interesting. The stacks behind him (apart from yours) are all 20 – 27bbs. So, he either misclicked or has the kind of hand he knows hes not folding to a 3bet shove but doesnt want to encourage that play. Hands in that range i would guess at 66-QQ, AJ, AQ. I would think he would be trying to induce with Ak, KK+. He knows you cant call him without a monster premium.
If this same guy and made a normal open how would you play your QQ? I'm either 3betting with intention of calling, or flatting to induce squeeze behind. I'd have to have a super strong read to not call off here. So, if in a 'normally' played preflop senario we are not folding pre, why fold now?

Yeah, liking your thought process there turbulence. It should be a call either way, but the better player he is the easier it should be?
Or can we ever give him credit for trying to level us (or more specificly the shortstacks) with AA/KK/AK? I honestly think we're levelling us self more often than not if we do that.
