hi folks
i am a disabled armed forces veteran with a lot of time on my hands. my goal is to eventually earn a supplementary income grinding MTTs. my bankroll is roughly $300 per month for this year. in the past i have only played one tournament at a time for recreational purposes. i am well aware of the variance in MTTs and understand that you need to play a lot of tourneys in order to stand a chance of being profitable in the long-term…
i am scoping out a number of potential tournaments on sites with relatively small fields which will decrease the variance compared to the multi-thousand runner micro tourneys on stars. how many tourneys should i try to play daily or weekly to give myself a reasonable chance to start being profitable? please can you suggest a shedule to start me off with? i love playing poker, especially tournaments, so it's really as much about filling my time with something mentally stimulating and enjoyable, with a potential monetary return in the future.
i am really using this year to develop my game and practice practice practice. next year my monthly bakroll will be larger and i will then also be able to afford coaching – (or maybe i should play a load of tournaments in the next couple of months to build up my database and then seek coaching???) any advice and suggestions will be much appreciated
cheers and good luck at the tables
tom
Wecome!
My suggestion is no more than 4 tables when working on improving your game, if this many is uncomfortable I suggest doing gradual increments, it might take a while for some to be able to take in all the action of 4 tables, but I believe its quite possible and have little problem doing it myself.
How many tournaments depends on how many hours you have, i suggest keeping it at 4 (or less)-tables until you're thinking about ending your session and letting that decide the number of tourneys you play.
I suggest at least a 20/80 split of studying and playing, that means 1-1,5 hours of studying, going through tournaments, posting hands, activly watching videos, etc, before hitting the tables every day.
Good luck and don't hesitate with keeping us updated!

Welcome! I would say in terms of tables play as many as you feel comfortable with. Start with 2, and as soon as you feel comfortable with that, add another. I will take time, a lot of time to be able to play 6-10 comfortably, but that should be your goal.
And yeah as nqon mentioned, study as hard as you possibly can. Try to watch every vid on the site and post lots of hands in the forums. It’s really awesome that you have found a training site so soon in your development, my people, including me, donk around for ages before finally joining a site.
Good luck and have fun.
