Very tight player wants to know how to play loose and play more hands. I'm called tighter then tight at my local club. I play the recommended early midde and late position hands, but don't seem to be dealt those hands often enough to join in the MTT tournaments. Last night played in a 300 person nolimit tournament and after 4 1/2 hours dealt only 4 hands I could play according to recommendations for early, middle and late position.

Ideas gladly accepted

I wouldn’t try to give a full answer your question myself, but you’ll find some great videos on this site to help you loosen up your game.

I would start with some videos listed under TPE university section ‘getting started at TPE’

DannyN’s turbo series is great for turbos, BigDog’s back to back Sunday chop videos are great for non-turbo and there are tons more.

I will say that you have to be willing to test things out, and take risks that you’re not used to. One thing I learned from this website is that in order to win tournaments you have to be willing to bust. I thought I understood this before I joined, but I had to relearn what that actually meant.

When earlier in tourneys, when you open more loosely, you may have to get used to folding decent made hands like top pair when another player (especially a tight one) shows genuine signs of strength.

If you have folded for two or three orbits, especially later in tourneys, you absolutely must play a lesser hand here or there so that you can get more action when you do pick up a premium hand. If players are opening every hand in front of you, you do have to eventually play back at them. They don’t have the goods every time.

I also recommend reading the series ‘winning poker tournaments one hand at a time.’

Hope that’s a good start.
