I think the $1,600 Venetian Deep Stack tourney is one of the best structures for similar buy-in events (correct me if I’m wrong here). But there is something interesting about the structure:  you can buy in directly into Day Two and you would have 30BB to start (30,000 chips and the blind level of 500-1,000).  See structure sheet for upcoming tourney below.

In terms of ROI, would it be correct to just buy into Day Two?  How would you approach this tourney if you had only one buy-in allotted?  How about two?

Your comments and input are appreciated.

Buy in day 1. I’ve played a fair number of these, and there are often some super soft players day 1.  Too much edge to pass up.

One thing to avoid.  If you aren’t good super deep stacked and short handed, you might want to wait 30 minutes or so to enter, as they start tables as short as 4 handed…

Playing from the beginning is almost certainly best if your objective is to maximize ROI. It’s possible that late registering (not necessarily max late registering) could be best from an hourly rate perspective, but that would only be true if you had other, better opportunities available to you for monetizing your time.
