hey hey

reads – v on the bb is a reg , i’m not sure if he’s a winning one , he’s been shoving on my LP raises. I’d usually raise KJo from the BTN but there’s this dynamic going on it seems , so i decided to counter v strategy by limping lol! was this okay?

I don’t usually limp on the button tbh and its something i think a lot of players don’t do either.I reckon we should definitely should have a balanced limping range in situations like these.

Thoughts please? also maybe thoughts on r/c a shove? and as for hero’s image i guess i’ve been pretty active.

cheers 🙂

Well, I had a few drinks and saw no response here and felt bad 🙂

It could be as simple as the blinds had no diamonds or kings. If you’ve been active, it’s the kind of flop where they will fit or fold because why bother?

Thanks for the response lol 😀 yeah its a flop which they’ll likely play fit or fold i reckon. I think there’s a lot of merit for front loading our value here as we can get value from worse Kx and maybe flush draws (if they have any in their range). If you had a hand like Adiamond 5club i think this a flop we should also be betting as a semi bluff , so we can balance this by betting both our value hands and our bluffs 😉 I do wonder though which hands are we checking back here? what about a hand like 3club 3diamond or 4spade 4diamond ?

Sometimes people post about how it’s OK to have a polarized range in certain circumstances, but I forget which. Is this one of those cases?

I think if the flop were KT2 or KQ2 (still ddd) your bet is more likely to get a call from middle pair. Even if I have a 5 on this board, it is probably harder to call because so many overcards to my middle pair can come, not to mention undercards can fill straights.

If V’s are aware, then KJ is honestly toward the top of your limping range because they’ve seen you raise so much before. Or, especially the BB, it could be met with suspicion if he knows you know he’s been 3-betting you. I wonder if you had raised and he three-bet you pre here whether a 4-bet would make sense because his 3-bet range might be too light.

To answer your question (but not really lol), on the other hand, your limp pre was more situational than part of a limping range, right? If so, it’s hard to think about checking/betting ranges on the flop because the pot’s so small. To think of it another way, the point of a range is to cover situations that occur more than once, I’m thinking 🙂 But, your action here will affect your image in terms of aggressiveness because people will remember your taking it down on the flop more than that you limped pre.
