UTG raise, fold to flop bet by BB. Is this too weak?

Standard UTG raise with 88. Called by SB and BB. Is this to weak of play when BB leads out. If stacks were deeper I know I could float or even CR. Nearly CR anyway. Is my play too weak here??

i could go either way.  if this were HU i’d be at least calling, probably raising just because these donk bets are always so full of shit.  3 ways i’m a little more inclined to fold, but he definitely has draws and air in his range

Is this the “donk bet” that Wein was discussing in his latest video? Usually they are betting to get info / find out where they are at and if you raise, they usually fold (I think they were deeper stacked but not sure). Either way, its kinda early to speculate and try to outplay. GLD IMO. No set no bet as they say sometimes?

I think it’s 100% fine to fold here.  88 kinda loses it’s value in a bigger pot when you are not the aggressor.  Will you be ahead sometimes?  Sure.  You can call and the turn/river will go c/c sometimes.  However, it’s much more likely that there will be a turn bet as well and then a river bet for a significant part of your stack and 88 is not playing well at this point.

I could go either way, if you raise you would be representing AK+ and then you would probably get to the river for free but you would have to invest around 1/4 of your stack.
