Hello!

I was questioning my line ott, when V leads a blank river, I discounted flush because I block some of those, but maybe there is some Kx Qx that got a flush draw ott.

At the time playing I thought V may be on a draw a high % of the time, so I shove, now I was looking some equity, and his draws have about 21% equity to hit otr, and since there is about PSB behind for river, I was wondering if V usually will shove when he dont hit the river very often… no reads on the V.

This is the range I gave V to check call otf: JJ-66, ATs-A8s, A6s, KTs-K8s, Q9s+, J9s+, T8s+, 97s+, 87s, 76s, 65s, 54s, ATo-A8o, A6o, KTo-K9o, QJo, JTo

Could it be possible that you’re making his preflop range too narrow (specifically offsuit hands) because of your 3x raise? His lead on the turn confuses me because he could have had a lot of 2 pair in his range when calling the flop, but then why lead the turn?

He’s getting about 5:2 to call the turn, which means all draws fold. What do you think about, instead of shoving, calling the turn as well as river if the remaining draws miss. (If he has 79, he has 79. I mean, we know he didn’t based on the action but at the time we didn’t.)

I remember learning about not betting to “take it down right now” when you could induce a bluff later on, and I wonder whether this concept applies to this hand.

That range was for V to check call the flop, I discounted some of that, that will fold otf. But yeah, I have 3x that, maybe is smaller range.

Sorry, I was in doubt about calling turn and calling river for a better line here. Not sure is I was calling with bluff catch, or making a trap, that lead turn was confusing to me as well.

You’re too shallow-stacked to be raising to 3x preflop, it needs to be maximum 2.5x when you’re only 30bb deep.

That said, the rest of the hand is fine. I like shoving the turn since villain will very often have some kind of pair+draw combo that just picked up a flush draw, and there are far too many bad river cards for us to think about trapping with one pair on a board this dynamic (club, 7, 9, J, Q are all awkward at best).

We’re not shoving ‘to take it down right now’, we’re shoving for value with the intention of getting called by worse, but we do have the added benefit of not allowing our opponent to realise their equity in the pot by seeing a river at no additional cost.
