Merge Network $1K Gtd – [Deep, Turbo] No Limit Hold'em Tournament – t100.00/t200.00 Blinds + t20.00 – 9 players – View hand 2058025
TournamentPokerEdge.com Hand History Converter

UTG: BB = 22.3, t4455
UTG+1: BB = 19.3, t3856
Hero (UTG+2): BB = 40.8, t8150
MP1: BB = 18.6, t3721
MP2: BB = 53.3, t10659
CO: BB = 33.8, t6765
BTN: BB = 14.9, t2974
SB: BB = 16.8, t3365
BB: BB = 31.6, t6325

Pre Flop: (t480) Hero is UTG+2 with J of diamonds J of spades
2 folds, Hero raises to t400.00, 2 folds, CO calls t400, BTN calls t400, 1 fold, BB calls t200

Flop: (t1880) Q of clubs 8 of diamonds K of spades (4 players)
BB checks, Hero checks, CO checks, BTN checks

I did not cbet here, but I figured somebody had a high probability of having a Kx, Qx, or some type of straight draw that could be completed if I hit a J on the turn.

On second look…

PP = QQ-AA raise pre. 88 would raise if I bet. All others fold.

AK and possibly AQ raise pre.

KQ and KJ unlikely due to blockers. KT is possible.

QJ is unlikely due to blockers. QT is possible.

JT is unlikely due to blockers.

T9 is possible, but I have 2 of his outs.

So the most likely hands that would just call a cbet are AQ and KT. And neither of them could likely stand a big turn barrel.

I dont usually cbet a hand that is unlikely to improve on boards like this vs 3 villains, but in light of the blockers, it may be more profitable than it looks on the surface.

i just c/f this vs 3.

if they call pre with any Qx or Kx they are most likely also not folding post on Kx or Qx high

OOP I think c/f (weak as it seems) is best option. If you cbet your going to get floated by any number of hands and there are a lot of turn cards you dont want to see or could suck you further into the hand. If you cbet and a 9 or T come in how are you going to proceed? getting into a sticky spot.

Against 1 or 2 players (depending on reads) would probably cbet quite often as this board should hit your range quite often, but against 3 there is a good chance one of them got a decent chunk of this board.

I think we can look at what percentage of the hands that just flat pre will just call a cbet and turn barrel. I dont think it is very high at all. Depending on the field it might not even be worth the risk, but I think it is worth thinking about if you understand hand combos well. Unfortunately, I dont.
