It is just a matter of preference and the way you learned how to reference stack sizes. I really don't think one is better than the other.
If M works better for you just convert the BB's mentioned in a vid to M's so you have a better understanding.
For example if someone says 'in this spot with 10-15 BB's I do….' convert to M and you know that they make that move with that many M's.

M is a more rigorous way of describing it because you dont have to specify whether there are antes or not, but in general, i just find BB easier to use because it is much easier to work out your stack size in relation to BB rather than M, especially playing live.
