I know what the bankruptcy means for US players that had money on there but what about everyone else that plays on there. Curious what this means for BigDog since he recently signed with them. Any thoughts you wanna share bigdog?

apparently pokernews got their info slightly wrong and said that they were bankrupt but now noone is sure what is going on and they haven't filed yet.

either way, its pretty clear that they are not 100% liquid in their player funds, so that would be really bad news for players.

Hey guys. As for what I know its unfortunetly absolutely nothing. I have 0 inside info the only thing I have been told by what little mangement there is left at ap is that all sponsorship deals are on hold at this point. Wish I could shed some light but I am in the dark like everyone else.

You should definitely open an account somewhere else.  If you have money on AP and want to just play with the riks associated that's fine but if you're going to be playing for real AP is not the place to do it.

To mavman and to others who care to read- perhaps withdraw most of it, play the rest and see how long it takes to get it actually payed out to you. I play on a small european site (no US players) that I know from the inside is volatile and has been for 3 years but keep hanging on.  I try not to keep more than I am willing to lose there if they decide to shut down. I keep playing there because I keep making money there. If a site is slow to pay out, it very well could mean they don't have a lot of cashflow and need to keep the money for as long as possible to gain interest on it or even to get enough liquid cash to pay out to players. I typically wait 3-4 weeks for a payout at my site. People have to do the math and weigh the odds. If a small site has few players, consistently doesn't make their “purse”in buy ins on tournaments ( just add the buy-in, rebuys and add-ons) and are very slow to pay (with sh!tloads of BS reasons)… they should be suspect to be riding the wire on bancruptcy. AP/UB is/was a large site but are hit on some big changes. I don't play there, so I can't really comment but do know a few people that work in their call centers (their chat/help people) in Costa Rica and they are a little worried about their jobs at the moment.

GL, play hard and win.

I haven't talked to anyone since a week ago Saturday but can try and find out if they still have jobs or what is going on at work.

On black friday I had $268 on AP. I tried to pull them out, beacause even though I am a european. I was still a little worried. But my recrest got cancelled. Then I was only aloud to make a $250 withdraw. So I made that and leaving me with $18 left on my acount. So I played a $3 rebuy. I won it, but I can still not make a withdraw, because the $250 is still pending and have now been for weeks. So to mavman. Find another site and just hope that you some day will see the money from AP.

UB terminates contracts of Team UB
By Gary Wise
Many inside the poker industry hardly needed news release to see this one coming, but the rumors were confirmed on Monday as Bianca Games announced that all members of Team UB would be released from their contracts.

“Recently, Absolute Poker and UB ceased their U.S.-facing operations due to legal developments in the United States,” the release stated. “To ensure the on-going viability of the business, it has been necessary to downsize certain aspects of Absolute Poker's and UB's operations. These efficiency measures have been taken to enable the brands to continue to operate their non-U.S.-facing business. …”

“Regrettably, the negative effect of 'Black Friday' has extended to the company's highest profile group of poker professionals, known as 'Team UB.' Consequently, Blanca's executive management team today informed its roster of sponsored pros that, in accordance with the provisions of their agreements, their contracts have been terminated.”

The release went on to name Joe Sebok, Prahlad Friedman, Eric Baldwin, Maria Ho, Brandon Cantu, Tiffany Michelle, Scott Ian, Dave Stann, Adam Levy, Bryan Devonshire and Trishelle Cannatella as those affected.

“Yeah, I saw it coming,” Levy said. “I pretty much knew … once we saw the way they handled [Black Friday], you knew there wouldn't be any more operations in the U.S., so [American] pros were kind of pointless for them to have.”

This was inevitable. In the wake of Black Friday, the company reportedly has referenced the downsizing and restructuring of their company in previous news releases. It no longer is playing with the big boys and, as such, can't pretend it is by paying its now-former pros big boy bucks.

Now, two questions linger:

1) Will any of these pros be able to find work with other companies? The reality is they'll have difficulty due to the lack of a US market to make them viable.

2) What will the pros share about their time with UB and AP?

Some industry critics called for the pros to boycott UB/AP sponsorship money in the wake of their respective 2008 scandals. Those same people will be listening closely now to the discarded players and wondering if the recent news will result in the full disclosure and give some insight for those American players who fear they'll never see their online monies returned. The price for those men though, may be perceived disloyalty to a former employer and as such a potential nail in the coffin for future sponsorship deals.

Joe Sebok, who has represented and been the main voice for the company over the past few years, released his own statement on Monday.

These 11 are now added to a continually expanding free-agent pool that some feel may see a further influx of US-based Full Tilt Poker and PokerStars pros. Check back Tuesday for a feature looking at the effects of Black Friday on sponsorship and how professionals are beginning to exit the U.S.

I've only played a few times on UB, I joined so I could play in a TPE members tourney. I deposted only $100 and had built that up to about $200. Since Black Friday I've been unable to withdraw (stuck on pending, I'm in the UK). I've just written that money off in my mind, if I ever get now I will consider it an unexpected bonus. It's annoying to lose $200, but I've made a hell of a lot more than that playing online poker so I won't be losing any sleep over it . I'll just put this down to experience. I feel awful for my fellow TPE members with a big balance on there, that probably includes Casey.

I never deposited on Full Tilt, but surely their players will get their money back eventually? I still have confidence is Stars, particularly after they managed to payout to US players so quickly, I'm still playing there daily.

I took one good thing from UB, I managed to win a seat worth $320 in the Bigdog Invitational in his forum competition. It was a fantastic experience to play in a well structured tournament with several well known online pros. I was proud that I held my own and very nearly cashed, only busting out in a standard flip.

I recently joined UB (from Australia) deposited $300, played and won a tourney… all seemed to be working fine.  The next time I logged on I noticed $300 was subtracted from my BR and I was locked out.  The site required me to provide significant proof of id i.e. copy of a utility bill, copy front and back of Visa card (I obscured the codes) and driver's licence.  I did this in good faith and was told that my $300 had been transfered back into my bank account.  This appeared not to be the case and I've been in contact with the support staff via email with no joy.  I've tried to log back on and deposit another small amount to see whether my BR remained on site, but am consistently declined.  This is also the case with AP, however, I didn't need to provide any proof of ID.

All this occurred before 'Black Friday' and I found the whole process to be highly unprofessional and intrusive.  So, I've had to write off my deposit due to a perceived 'technical hitch' and move on without any further ambition to affiliate with these two providers.  I'm sorry if this post sounds like a blatant whinge, or disrespectful to those US players who cant access the site anyway, but I just wanted to flag my disappointment and am interested if any other non-US members have experienced similar 'hitches'.

From what I have found out (probably not new news) is that the Costa Rica feds raided the Costa Rica offices of Poker stars and UB/AP and seized computers etc (lots of feeds on google). My lawyer, whos son was a big time marketer for them (has since left), told me last week they shut down the UB/AP office here. I haven't been able to contact a friend (aquantance) that was working there but did see on her facebook that she has a new job since early may. She worked in the customer service (chat etc. dept) at UB/AP. Anyone chat recently with UB/AP reps? If you do, ask if they r in Costa RIca.

I talked to a friend of mine today and yes, UB closed their Costa Rica office and let everyone go. Shitty all around for the players and workers because all the locals who had the pee-on jobs are out of work. The sad thing is they probably made more than what they will be making working for local businesses.

Hope you all get your funds….
