UB Steps Strategy for BR building

So I really enjoyed Cougar's video on steps and have already worked on Stars and FT's steps. But I was wondering given the juicy opportunity of starting UB's steps at only 0.10, is there a way I can get into a decent tourney halfway, rather than shooting for a 10k spot at Step 10? It just seems that if I mix in some steps on each of these sites I would have a decent means of playing in a reach tourney that is otherwise beyond my bankroll.

I know that right now UB/AP are running UBOC Steps 6,7,8,and i think 9. Other than that I think it is just for 10k buyin tourneys and the step 10 sng which pays cash for the top 3 places. I have had a lot of trouble getting the higher steps and even some of the middle steps to run even during peak hours. I sat in a step 6 for almost 7 hours on a saturday before the tourney finally filled and ran.
