So, recently, I have been having the propensity to play small suited connectors almost always when being fairly deep. This is something I want to incorporate in my game and start playing them profitably. Here are two examples where I might have made some grave mistakes in the hand, or I might have played well and just gotten unlucky, but I will let the wealth of knowledge in this forum weigh in on that. Both these hands are on ACR 1500 guarantee and ACR 1000 guarantee. In both these cases, I was in the top 5-10 stacks. In the first hand, there were 80 remaining, 36 make the money, and in the 2nd, there were 34 remaining and 36 make the money. Here are the details –

Hand #1:

In hand #1, there was a re-raise from a player with whom I don’t have many stats on. I still chose to call his raise as I got good odds. Barreled the flop on a flush draw, and value-bet turn with the flush. River card was an undesirable one for my hand, and I think betting 22k into ~38k pot was a mistake. What do you guys think?

In hand #2, UTG just flatted which made me think he might have a monster. Nevertheless, I decided to peel a flop with my 54. Flop was one of the best ones for my hand with a pair and a flush draw. Even against AA, I am almost 50%, although KK has me crushed, but I have outs to the flush. So, I get it all-in on the flop when I think I have the best equity. What is your opinion on this one?

Hand 1: I think you need to look at the effective stacks here, everyone else is pretty short so I fold here pre. Facing the 3bet I also fold; flop seems okay I guess, turn is fine, river seems really bad.

Hand 2: I fold here pre as well, but I think its a much smaller mistake than hand 1. Flop, betting is okay, ck might be better, I guess we kinda have to go w it facing the raise…

You’re not “fairly deep” in either of these hands. Especially as you get shallower there is a big difference between T9s and 54s. Position matters a lot with these hands as well. Even with deep stacks both of these should probably be pre-flop folds from EP.

Hand 1: I think I would open that if I am on few tables, but fold for a 3bet, I overlook it, but seems EP the 3bet, V has to have a hand here AK, TT+ I guess, the hand turns into garbage now, is really flop dependent.

Hand 2: Don´t like the limp, as played I will try to put all the money on that flop, can improve to two pairs or flush.

I usually fold both hands pre.

yeah fold both hands pre.

1.) The hand plays really, really, really bad vs IP calling range. I would probably not going lower than 89s as standard and 76s at some very weak tables.

2.) you are not that deep effectively esp in hand 1

3.) opening that wide UTG will make you very easily exploitable as you can

2a.) not defend enough vs 3bets

2b.) defend enough but with a way too weak hand

3.) there is just no need for this. the majority of the times in MTT you can really avoid these spots and be patience as someone is gonna donk off his chips to you
