first thing to note as this is a definite fold pre, you are only in MP1, there has already been a limper, there is a decent chance of getting action behind, and i doubt you can win multiway unless you hit two pair or better.

pretty big leak to be raising this at all from this position, and most definitely pre ante.

Your thinking is outdated strategy that was created in 2009 its very nitty. You nits are the most predictable, unblanced, uncreative and transparent and easy to play against players also univerisally terrible at poker. I play a higher variance hyper Lag style because i am extremely comfortable playing postflop as i derive most of my money from poker from Cash games as my skills prevail a lot quicker than in MTTs. Its 2009 thinking to think you cant 3bet and 4 bet light pre ante, be creative postflop etc its all rubbish.

Go to Cardrunners and watch videos by Chuck Bass to see what this style emcumpases.  Sorry the plug.  And for the record the guy showed 10,7 for the nut straight.

LOL. Your reply is rude and elitist. Don't post a hh and then berate someone who gives honest advice. Go back to 2+2.

As for the hand, I agree with Benny. I do not think that 96s is strong enough to isolate the UTG limper. First of all, your sizing is way too small. The limper will never fold and it will not discourage calls from players IP. You should be raising bigger with your value hands in order to get value and having varied raise sizings opens you up to be exploited by even the simplest of players. In order to play this hand profitably, we need to end up IP most of the time. I would isolate at least 140 with my entire range to generate more folds. In a $5 (lol at such an amazing player such as yourself playing the micros), players behind are not likely to fold marginal hands so you will usually end up playing a multiway pot OOP with a weak hand.

Not to mention you will get 3b from behind a decent amount and the UTG limper can 3b as well. Trying to steal after an EP limp at a 9h table is just bad. Players are going to wake up with hands frequently enough. You are not going to make strong hands very often postflop and will end up trying to semibluff habitual callers off of overpairs and top pairs. You may think you have enough postflop edge to justify the iso, but you don't.

Had you been in late position and already recognized that the limper's range is weak even UTG then an isolation raise is fairly standard. You will likely play a pot IP against one or two opponents. The three callers you recieve in the hh likely indicates that your raise will not generate enough folds to make raising 96s profitable. And by the way, I have seen a few of Chuck Bass' videos on cardrunners. He is a great player and is able to profitably play a very wide range of hands because he is much better than you. You don't have the skills that he does so you shouldn't and cannot justify trying to play exactly the same way.

Belive what you want fish if it makes you happy.  How i approch MTTs works great for me and has brought me some success despite running millions of chips below EV which is responsible for the lack of better results.  Its ok i know your envious because your incapble of playing such a style and are universally terrible at poker but maybe one day with a lot of hard work you will be able to beat 2nl.  I will carry on my endevours while you teach people bad habits that will only worsen their poker games and while you carry a false perception that your good at poker becaause you have won a few MTTs despite being EV your whole life.

Not cool.
Assimilating constructive criticism from diverse perspectives is, in itself, a skill worth mastering if one is to succeed in any pursuit.

lol WTF.

never had anyone playing micros act with such a sense of entitlement. i hope you were really drunk when you posted this, and if so i expect an apology. but this isnt how TPE works, and we have never had any of this on the forums.

If you want to be a constructive member of the forums this isnt how it is done.

and cousteer, dont use big words like assimilating, he wont understand what that means

Um – interesting – where to start?

1. When you post a hand for review, it would be useful to say what aspect of the hand you want reviewed (preflop, post flop, call/fold/shove decision ect) and provide any table dynamics relevant.

2. It would also be useful if the hand was posted using the converter so its easy and quick to read and analyse

3. Dont ask for feedback if you dont really want it. Leave your ego at the door, open your mind, and suck it up. There are a lot of very knowledgable, hard working, and talented players here that are generous enough to share their thoughts with you. RESPECT THAT!

As for the hand….

You played it perfectly, welldone, you are a genious…..hope this helps.

million chips below EV –> loose a flip at FT for 2nd place in a $1 rebuy and you're there… doesn't say anything when you run 'millions of chips' below EV

as for the hand.. why comment, seems you're incapable of accepting feedback and absorbing good info (and judge whether you like info or not)

Can we just ban him?  He clearly came here to stroke his own ego.  Which is interesting considering this is a micro stakes tournament and all of his stats are locked.  Honestly, if you feel you are so superior to the fish in this forum, find another forum to get advice.  At TPE we enjoy giving constructive criticism and helping each other think through tough hands and interesting spots.  I would give my advice, but clearly, as a donk I would not be of any help to you.  Keep crushing those micros!!!!
