Background info : This is a $33 2.5kG turbo on merge. We are down to ~30ish players getting close to the money. I am 2nd in chips. The hand immediatly prior to this I had AA and flatted an open pre getting the money all in on the flop to get most of my chips.

The players to my left have been pretty tight. kmbond isn't super aggro and my read on him is he likes to see flops. He flatted in the small blind the hand prior and folded post. He is the only real player that can cripple me. He can be aggressive at times and seems to udnerstand basic push/fold.

The rest of the stacks have all been playing too tight and I don't have much history or recongize any of them. I'm assuming more casual players looking to get into the money.

What do we like here with 99? Do we flat hoping to induce some action? Shove (we are about 20bb effective here) to try to get heads up and win a decent pot? Thanks for any input.

Never fold.  I dont mind a flat here but I defualt to jamming.  Sometimes I may even just min raise.  But given you say opponents are tight I would just shove.  If we flat its to call all stacks.  We cant really fold unless the guy kmbond is liek a 5/4 over 300 hands lifetime.

I'm never folding to the original shove.

I do play turbo's tighter than a lot of people, especially if I'm sitting in the position you are. So, I'm flatting with the plans of folding to kmbond's shove, and his shove only. I'm calling all other shoves. This is possibly a leak for me, but I think i'm ok with it. I'm not a huge fan of hopefully flipping/being crushed for 20BB late in a Turbo when I have more than 30BB. We do have some life in our stack.

Given that you said kmbond likes to see flops, it would lead me to think an over shove from him to be even stronger.

For the guys who say it's an auto shove – I ask why? It's very possible I'm playing this spot wrong, but I don't think this has to be an auto shove. When we shove and he calls, his worst likely range is going to be crushing/flipping with us. I can't see him really calling off with 55 here. I can't see him calling with less than AQ either.

I flat, because it's our best chance of inducing action from a weaker hand if the button wakes up with 88 or AJ. I think players behind fold a little too much if we shove or minraise. Never, ever, ever fold though.

The problem with the illusion of FE in spots like this is what hands are we inducing.  Obviously if we get 88 to shove we love it, if we can get other hands we dominate to put in chips.  But if we are inducing hands we are flipping with, I dont think we are going to like the result.

For example.  There is .7 BB in antes, 1.5 from blinds, 4.5 BB shove, our 4.5 BB call.  Thats a total of 11.2BB of which we are about 60% agasint a 30-32% shoving range, making our return an expected 6.7BB or a gain of 2.2BB.  So thats obviously nice.

But if we induce KQs we are only 52.5% agasint this hand.  Meaning that if we get him to put in an extra 10 BBs(we would then call his 10 BBs), our expectation is 10.5 BB, emaning we gain .5BB from the side pot, however lets look at how our expectation in the main pot changes.

We know add another 4.5BB(assuming tis out of the blinds), for a total of 15.5BBs, but our hand 3 way versus KQs has a win % of 38.2% or a return of 6 BBs,plus our gain of .5 in the sid pot and we are looking at 6.5BB which is .2BB less than if we iso'd

This is obviously simplified, and the more we can get into the side pot the better(since we are always slightly better than a flip unless OR has like 99 too or something, but we dont really concern ourself with that).  We wnt to avoid inducing a lot of flips, however this could be countered if we still induce a lot of worse pairs or something like A8s which we are pretty far ahead of
