Hi,

blinds $125/$250

Hero in BB with $3,300 dealt 77

UTG limps
…?… limps
…?… limps
BTN limps
SB calls

Pot around $1700? (can’t recall antes)

Would you…

  1. Shove-squeeze
  2. Check to set-mine
  3. 3-bet?

No critically small or huge stacks. The table hasn’t been overly wild. (Sorry for lack of details. Doing this from memory). I just remember thinking a bet won’t isolate any given V.

I’d say your options are check or shove, and I’d prefer shove. Anything that involves raising less than all in is going to leave you in a bad spot post-flop.

I shoved. UTG limped QQ and I didn’t get any help.

I think the main reason for my post is that I was wondering if squeezing too many people is kind of like trying to bluff at too many people. Then again I figured even loose-aggressive gamblers would go out with a limp-range just because of the people left to act so I’m typically only getting called by one of the last couple of people, regardless of how many limpers there are. Since the last few limpers would likely not limp if they had something strong it seems reasonable to think the play will get through unless UTG is limp-raising a monster or the last V has something like A9s or 99 and thinks I’m squeezing light with all that dead money… Is this healthy thinking for a situation like this?

RO maybe, but I was left wondering if the UTG or UTG+1 limp should have tempted me to just check my BB (compared to a situation where all limpers are in middle to late position).

I like your shove.  I don’t think 3betting is even an option, you don’t have enough chips.  You have to check your option or shove.  I like a shove.  Most of the time people aren’t limping big pairs in early position, and you put people with middling pairs in awkward spots that are in middle position.  I think when you do get called it’s usually in LP by a couple of over cards and now you’re a slight favorite with a lot of dead money.  Well played sir 🙂
