Hi all.  First HH post.

We are past the end of late reg, but about 45-50 away from the money in this $11 PKO on Stars.  We had the largest bounty at the table, but lost a couple pots bounty hunting, sp no longer have the largest stack.  Below are Pre-flop, flop and turn thoughts.  Would love to hear any issues with my thought process and alternate ways to play the hand.  This could be looked at as a Bad Beat but I think warrants a post as it wasn’t straight forward

(BTW – converter did not work for me.  Hopefully this is readable)

PokerStars – 200/400 Ante 50 NL – Holdem – 8 player

Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

SB: 14.2 BB (VPIP: 9.52, PFR: 7.50, 3Bet Preflop: 6.67, Hands: 44)
BB: 55.69 BB (VPIP: 0.00, PFR: 0.00, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 70)
UTG: 3.43 BB (VPIP: 0.00, PFR: 0.00, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 18)
UTG+1: 38.35 BB (VPIP: 13.33, PFR: 13.33, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 15)
Hero (MP): 45.83 BB
MP+1: 25.63 BB (VPIP: 44.44, PFR: 0.00, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 9)
CO: 58.53 BB (VPIP: 11.36, PFR: 11.90, 3Bet Preflop: 5.00, Hands: 44)
BTN: 27.38 BB (VPIP: 10.20, PFR: 2.08, 3Bet Preflop: 4.55, Hands: 50)

8 players post ante of 0.13 BB, SB posts SB 0.5 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop:(pot: 2.5 BB) Hero has Theart Tclub

fold, fold, Hero raises to 2.2 BB, fold, CO raises to 5.62 BB, fold, fold, fold, Hero calls 3.42 BB

  • Straight forward raise with TT.  Villian in CO is playing tight, but not a lot of history.  He did get in QQ with 25bb to get to his current stack.  When he 3bets in late position, I am giving him JJ+, AQ+, so pretty tight.  He didn’t go a full 3X here so I called.  Anyone 4-betting in this spot?

Flop:(13.75 BB, 2 players) Aclub Aspade Tspade
Hero checks, CO checks

  • Again, not a lot of history on villain, so I assume his check on this flop means he probably has JJ+ as he bets his AQ+.    I would have 4bet pre with AK, so he would think his AQ is good here.  He might check his AA.  One thing I don’t do a lot of is donk betting.  Wondering if I missed a spot here to do that.

Turn: (13.75 BB, 2 players) Kspade
Hero checks, CO bets 4.54 BB, Hero calls 4.54 BB

  • Scary turn as KK is obviously in his range.  Not sure if he bets JJ or QQ here.  I think the call is fine as he could have checked back his AQ on flop as a trap.

River: (22.82 BB, 2 players) 3heart
Hero checks, CO bets 48.25 BB and is all-in, Hero ……

  • Sigh call or fold??  There is only 1 combo of AA, 4 combos of AK and 3 combos of KK.  Looking back, not sure what bluffs he has in this spot unless he has JJ or QQ and is trying to get me off of AQ.  At this buy-in, not many would make a bluff like that.  Probably should have folded smile

On the flop I would consider leading here or definitely check-raising , it’s unlucky V doesn’t bet here though.

Nothing else to do on the turn really.

River, if you defined the V as a very tight player, gave him so strong 3betting range, I would stick with your read and fold TT quite comfortably.

Although let’s get to the maths. 57BB in the pot, you need to call 35BB which gives the pots odds of 36%.

You’re losing to 8 combos (AA,AK,KK), beating 20 combos (AQ,QQ,JJ) which gives you 40%, so that would justify a call.

However if the V is so tight, I would barely see him shoving QQ & JJ in this spot.

Don’t quote me on that though, that’s just my lose thoughts 😀 Wonder what the pros will say about this hand.

You need a strong read that this guy is really that tight I supose, if you want to make this fold.

I think V will cbet most of his bluffing OTF, check marginal (JJ-KK), check monsters (AQ+,AA), I guess is that is the range V has it is probably a fold OTR, since V is likely to take a free showdown with his marginal range, and I think he doesn´t have many bluff in his range. If you add some Ax on his range might get closer to a call.

I will wait till someone comments on this “cbetting bluffs OTF” tow. I can´t seem to get one right last days, so…
