I read an article on here about bankroll management, I used to do around 100 AvBuyIn. And now I am going to try at 200ABI. On the site I play there isn't a huge amount of games. I'm not shure if to add these 2 games to my scedule or not.

I have €2800 to play poker. To keep my 200 ABI I would need to play games for 14€ and <400 players.

There is a 6max deepstack for 20+2, with 5k start chips, 12 min levels and 35-40 players 5 nights a week. Do you think less players here would make up for the -ABI?

Also there is a rebuy once a week for 10+1, which has a 10k prize and around 400 players, its a little above what isw recomended, as it would be €33, and more when I have to rebuy more. I attracts me tho as only 10% of the field rebuy optimally, so it has alot of extra value. This would be my weekly shot, if I add it to my schedule. You think the extra value makes up for the extra cost?

 Thx..

The 6max deepstack seems fine to play as it should really be low in variance if you have an edge on the field at this level.

The rebuy tournament probably depends on how liberal you are with your chips during rebuy periods. If you find you gamble a lot and take high variance spots in rebuys then it might get expensive but if not then it looks fine to take a shot with once a week so long as you are still staying within your overall ABI of 20 per tournament including the rebuys.

Also, the other thing you could do is drop out a couple of tournaments at the upper end of your buy-in range if you feel that these games will have more value than the others. That might help manage it a bit too.

I think it’s good to be addressing these concerns as you are. Being overly cautious is awesome. I’d personally take into account some outside factors in this decision.

1) Are you playing as a primary source of income or can you replentish the bankroll?

2) Are you going to play 100% optimal in these games that are just out of your bankroll range?

Personally, I found even though I wasn’t depending on poker for my primary income and could afford to take shots outside my bankroll I never played my best when I was doing it. My poker bankroll always kept me at the $11 and under level and even though I knew skillwise I was still +ev at the $33 even maybe a bit higher I just couldn’t get over that so always just stayed at the low buyin as I found my play deteriorated.

But I think it can’t be horrible if you are not getting out of control and aren’t going to go on tilt if you don’t succeed at the higher buyin.

One thing about the $10r is that others are going to be able to rebuy a few times and if you can’t afford it might decrease your ev and affect game play.

Bottom line, experiment and try to figure out what works for you. Only you know your personal finance situation outside poker and you will know what you are not playing yor best game.

In the Deepstack I have an edge on about 60% of the players, and the better players seem to be concentrating more on the main events, that take place at the same time. This will be my new regular game now I think..

I can normally get through the rebuy from the minimum 3 buys to 5. It really does have alot of extra value tho, 90% of the players either buy once, or just keep rebuying to 2000 looking for a double up lol. When you buy  to 4000 it gives you a massive advantage on  the field, I think.

I am playing €50 that I put in 2 years ago, and have been grinding it since, I recently took 2k out tho. If I ran out of money, I would just start again with 50-100€.

I have been playing more €50-100 tournaments recently, I had no problem playing my game, i'v just noticed a dip in my graph and plan to get back into good bankroll management. I  can definately play the rebuy fine laugh

Thanks for the replys guys cool

Well done buddy, just remember now to remain disciplined with your bankroll and not take shots higher than your two added events as a result until you have a much bigger volume on which to judge. Good work.

i think even RonFezBuddy would tell you that the article on BRM is a little outdated.  i think all your comments above seem fine and im glad to see it worked out in your favor already!

as a general note, i used to sell action online and when i played rebuys i used 7x buy ins (including the add-on) as my guide for the maximum allowed buy ins.  generally i didn't hit that mark but that was the maximum threshold.

RFB's article is aweosme as a starting point, but you should definitely modify it for the toughness of the field and also the size of it. smaller and weaker and you can play higher. RFB's article was written pre black friday when he would have been grinding huge fields on stars and tilt.

dont forget ABI is your average too, some 22s, 10r, 33s should be fine. I play a similar ABI, maybe up to $20, and i usually play up to $50 tourneys, but they are typically small field.

taking a shot once in a while is always good too. keep it interesting.
