This was an interesting FT hand from tonights ACR $50+5 5K. Unlike my image at most FTs I don't beleive that villian believes I'm a maniac (Marc having a three bet shove stack to my left most of the FT had a lot to do with that), and I have little history with him. He has not been a nit, but not overtly agg, either. I typcially find that most villians on Winnning who I do NOT have history with are not very good.

This is the second of a back-to-back open, though, first did not go through with the same villian as he raised me on the flop. Prior to this, I had opened few pots at the FT.

Thoughts as to his range here for calling my turn check shove, what you think of my line, and any other critique that you may have. Normally my line here would have been to just two barrel. Will show the rest of the hand once people have had a chance to comment.

Interested to hear the thinking behind the check raise? Do you think he has you on a missed broadway and trying to steal the pot? How about potential ranges for him? Broadway’s trying to steal? Pocket pairs or sets? Or a draw semi bluffing? Does he ever have a made hand here ?? And if he does call what do we think our equity is against his range?

All good questions! My theory behind the check raise was that he had a marginal hand, but not a good one (note that he raised the prior flop, so I put him on a hand that time). If I double barrel, he might still call with his marginal hand, but if I check raise him he now has to call with a marginal hand (if I am correct) on a reasonably wet board for a significant portion of his stack. There is the fear that he might have me on missed high cards, which is why I want to make my line as strong as possible. My range for him is a small pocket pair, or a piece of the flop (I think this villian actually raises a set, overpair or 8  on the flop; don't think he ever has a made hand here). He could also have a spade draw, another hand I am attempting to make him fold with my check raise.

If he calls (and he calls here only because he has figured out the puzzle and does NOT buy my line, or he is just a station, but has not shown that tendency thus far at the FT), I think that we have two overs, the flush draw and the gutter, so I have decent equity against his calling range.
