Live Tournament – 900 Entrants. Down to 90 or so and 81 pay.

I would really like to hear your thoughts on all the streets.

Blinds 1200-2400-300

V: 30yr old Middle Eastern guy – shades. Seems TAGGY.
Hero: TAG

Stacks: He has 120k. I have 160k.

Pre-Flop: Hero raises UTG with AA to 7k

SB and BB both call. Pot= about 24k

Flop: K52
Check. Check. Hero bets 14k. SB folds. BB calls. Pot= about 52k

Turn: 9h
Check. Hero Checks.

River: K
Villain Checks…Hero bets 10k. V raises to 30k.

Comments on all streets welcomed.

Folding. Unless he has been playing very tricky I'm not sure what we beat here. The flush got there. The board is paired. Top pair on the flop made trips. Unless we think he is capable of turning 66-QQ into a bluff.

Can't find much in our opponent's range he could be bluffing with here if he's tight, so I think river is a fairly comfortable fold. However, I don't think the 9h is enough of a scary card for us to check the turn, especially because we don't have the Ah as a backup.

The last thing we want is to give a free card to KxJh or 8x8h or something and end up losing, and ultimately the villain is pretty likely to check-raise this turn with a flush anyway, so we can very comfortably just bet the turn for value and fold if we get check-raised, in the knowledge that a tight villain will likely call a lot of weaker hands here but will raise with anything better.

@ginger would you be more inclined to check back if you had the Aheart? I must add that i think checking back turn is okay , i just look at the turn and think its a really bad scare card for us!

on the other hand villians range calling from the bb is going to be wide as u know , even if he's a tight player. So i guess there's still a lot of merit to bet to get calls from worse 6s through 9s , Kx A4/A3 perhaps.

not sure why we're betting river here. what are we hoping to get value from? think I just chk back and take the SD. As played it's a pretty comfortable fold imo. think V goes bigger with C/R bluffs.

Also can I ask why so big with the preflop open?

I think the river should have been a check back for showdown value. If you are going to bet here, you might have as well bet the turn and fold to a check-raise on the turn. Or call the turn check-raise and evaluate the river and may be fold if he leads the river.
