Hey guys,
Just wondering what your thoughts are on what numbers we should be looking at if we are open shoving in terms of what we gain as a # of BB's..
For example.. If we are shoving & are set to gain 0.5 bb's is this a good shove & one we should be making? Or would closer to 1bb be much better & therefore a better figure to risk our tournament life on etc.
Also how would a turbo structure change this?
Cheers
Dan
There's really no hard/fast rule here, and this is a question I debate myself often.
I tend to find anything <1bb marginal and with margin of error I will pass if there are a lot of factors unknown (early position, little info on other players).
That said, I think % of stack is actually better than the absolute of looking at BB. If something is .65bb but 13% of your stack it's a better spot than something that's .85BB but 4% of your stack. From my experience with the spreadsheet anything that is >10% of stack seems to be a really good spot and shouldn't be passed.
I've never seen this talked about anywhere else, so hopefully as a community we can start to frame the standard here.
