Tough Spot w/ AQ off in Bovada $50 30k Guaranteed

Hi All,

Wanted to get your thoughts on a recent hand played on Bovada.

Blinds are 2/4k with a 400 ante, about 25 people left. Chips stacks are Hero – 63k, UTG +3 – 44k, SB – 88k.

I am dealt AQ off UTG +2 . I make my standard raise to 8000 and UTG +3 flats, and SB squeeze jams all in for 88k.

I am not worried about UTG – 3 range and think he might have broadway cards small pocket pair, or suited connectors.

As for the SB range, I think he would have 77+, AJs, AQ+. I figured that I would be flipping against most of his range for about 15bb, and be crushed by AK, QQ, KK, and AA.

Would you call in this spot? I did and UTG +3 has K7 suited, and sb woke up with Ak off. Board ran out and we lost.

Im not to familiar with ICM but think I made a +EV call. Any thoughts?

I think you're right about UTG+3, it's pretty bad for them to be flatting here with 11BB. So, since you are deep in this tournament I'm wondering if you have any reads on the SB that would allow you to narrow their range a little more. I think the range that you put them on is accurate for someone 3-betting out of the SB when you have no other information. With that said, I ran it through propokertools and it's pretty much a flip as you said. With the dead money in the pot I think this is a call. As far as ICM is concerned, I'm not an expert but you are still 7 away from the next pay jump if there were 25 left. I think this is a spot you have to take with 15BB at that stage of the tourney.

If you have SB on this range you should fold, but I think its usually going to be wider, so with a flat in between for 15 BB its pretty impossible to fold, you just gotta call and pray laugh
