This hand came up with about 100 players to go until the bubble. At this point I have been fairly active, picking up chips and staying between 20-30bb. The table has tightened up as we are nearing the bubble and I pick up ATo UTG+1. I 2x open planning to call any 3bet from either of the 3 short stacks and fold to the rest.

Turn: (t22019) 5 of clubs (2 players – 1 is all in)

River: (t22019) 8 of hearts (2 players – 1 is all in)

Final Pot: t22019
b$gsl$ck2001 shows K of clubs K of spades (a full house, Kings full of Eights)
Hero shows A of spades T of hearts (two pair, Tens and Eights)
b$gsl$ck2001 wins t22019

I think given my weak position I shouldn't have opened this hand, however this is a turbo and I think villain has lots of weaker suited Ax, Kx hands plus small pairs in his range (his stats are 15/11 from a small sample of 50 hands) so the call is justified I think even though it's for nearly half my stack. Because I have been fairly active at the table at this point I think he can put me on a wide range and shove lighter against me, even from an EP raise.

Just want to hear some other peoples thoughts about this hand. Should I have just mucked pre? Is villains range stronger than I have estimated given we are nearing the bubble? Should I therefore just fold and wait for another spot to pick up chips. My gut says fold pre but would love to hear other peoples thoughts

I would just fold pre.  You are in EP opening into a bunch of reshove stacks.

I think this looks like a decent spot to open.

I think we can raise/call the two stacks at <10bbs and fold to a 3b or a shove from everyone else. The other stacks at the table are awkwardly sized so may not want to get too funky without a real hand either.

I think you were unlucky to just run into a premium hand.

This make sense. It’s so much easier to chip up in turbos when you have a big stack and I’d rather have a shot at winning than min cashing
