The second "Golden Age" of online poker?

From what I hear, online poker a few years ago was much softer and profitable. This peaked when? 2003-2005? My question is, do you pro's think online poker will go trough a boom and see a massive influx of new players anytime soon? I was thinking about it. Perhaps another “Moneymaker Effect” type of thing will happen and the games will get softer for a period of time. Getting good at poker now may pay off even more if we see another golden age of online poker.

when online poker is legalised in the US, advertising will be allowed and this will see a massive influx of new players.

whenever facebook poker decides it wants to offer real money games will be the single greatest thing to happen in the history of online poker.

yeah, regulation in the states will surely be the next boom (if and when it ever happens).  I think it is a matter of when and not if and just a matter of time.

I cant really think of anything from a “marketing/visibility” standpoint (ala the moneymaker effect) that will do it again.

Maybe a woman winning the main event?

Hey back off– she's mine!!

Never even thought of the US market thing. Very good point and I agree that will bring lots of new money to poker sites. Guess I forget not everywhere treats poker like Canada does.

Sat here in the UK with our liberal gambling laws and the tax free status of gambling winnings (poker included), it seems incredible that online poker still isn't legalised in the USA (supposedly the worlds biggest democracy and the games home country).

Legalised/regulated online poker in the USA = poker boom mark 2 IMO, bring it on.

I just wonder if people outside the US will be allowed to play on sites licensed in the US once online poker becomes regulated in the US.

Would suck if those sites become US only

There are thrre US states trying to do they're own online poker regulation. The problem with this is that if you lived in one of those states, you would only be able to play against other people in that state. The US congress is going to have to pass legislation for online poker.

That said: Support the Poker Players Aliance who are a lobby in Congress to get online pokker legislation passed.

The retarded, stupid, devil, bastards (politicians) in the US will never legalize until they can figure a way to tax the crap out of it. Book it!
