Is there a place where questions for articles go or have been posted already?  I have a question on twistt's article and I want to make sure it wasn't covered first.

Thanks

You spoke in your article about “ballooning” pots and why bet

sizing is important.  I haven't had any problems with bet sizing where I

was use to playing and usually betting 2.25-2.5 bb's depending on what blind

level we are at.  However, one of the biggest problems I am having now

playing at FT is that I am having to keep my sizing at 3 x as high as 2000

blinds.  Any time I try anything other than 3 x BB prior to 2000 blinds on

FT, I am finding it is just encouraging players to come into the pot,

especially in the blinds.  There are just so many more calling stations in

these monster fields at the low levels that I just can't pressure them to stay

out without a good hand unless I keep it at 3 x's.  The problem with this

is that I am now playing in more ballooned pots than I am use to and with

shallow stacks CBetting has become so much more difficult.

I am quite confident that when I move up to the medium stakes, this won't be

as much of a problem, but how do I find a balance with all this at the low

levels?  The only thing I have found is to keep it at 3 x's to much higher

blind levels than I am use to 🙁

Open tighter, 3 bet lighter brah. Ez game. haha.

But seriously, I'd start there at a table that is flatting everything you open with. The stronger the hand you open pre-flop the less you care if shitty players flat with shitty hands. If you're holding AA I doubt you're complaining that 1 or 2 people flat your 2.3x open. But if you open something like A6o from MP it gets dicey.

The answer is definitely not making your opens bigger – it has more to do with the ranges you open from each position and the tendencies of people behind you. Playing post-flop well will give you a significant edge over these people flatting wide ranges and playing their hands pretty face up after the flop.

low stakes for me is all about strong fundamentals and putting the bag of tricks aside.

getting the blinds to flat you is a good thing if your postflop play is much better than your opponents (which i assume it is) because they have to play OOP with likely marginal holdings.

i guess the issue, as FKCoolers has pointed out, is if you are still opening really light when you have 22bb, then it becomes really tough to play because your cbets nearly commit you.

so when you are 18-30bb, tighten up your opens and focus on resteals (as coolers pointed out), and when you get deeper, then rejoice that the blinds are flatting you and playing OOP and allowing you to crush them postflop
