Hi guys,

i tried a shot in this TCOOP tourney. The buy-in was way ahead of my bankroll (lol) but i did it also to test my game and my skills etc etc. So i think i was going well at this point…i was 3rd in chips at my table after i get lucky when i open-shoved my TT´s with 12 BBs and get called by JJ´s and QQ´s… i flopped a set and tripled up my stack. Later on i get dealted AQ and i raised this guy´s open (we was opening a lot with a very wide range…his stats were like 36/24 or something like that).

My question in this hand is: did i tribet him too small pre? should i fold the flop after his all-in move? what should i have done to avoid this?

He had showned he was very agressive and i didn´t think he had too much at that point…maybe a flush draw and i was convinced that he didn´t have KQ or so (God knows why i wasn´t convinced of that…lol…maybe because i had a blocker or so) … that´s why i did the call.

What should you have done to avoid getting the money in way ahead????  How about . . . NOTHING!  THIS IS WHAT YOU WANT!

As far as the general strategy questions go, I would just shove pre.  You have 20BB and are out of position, why give him a chance to see a flop?  Never fold the flop with this many chips when you flop top pair top kicker.

But seriously, don't complain or worry about your play when you get it in way ahead.  You should be very happy about this spot.

I agree 100%.  Shove pre-flop on this one.

Yep def shove pre, or if you want just make it like half your stack if you think he will make horrible calls pre and the nshove every flop, your hand is fine to do that with.  But I would just default to shoving and not trying things like that.

Another note, is that if you are going to take shots, I would avoid turbos as the tourneys to do it.  Its  alot more nuanced, smaler edges, and increased variance.  If you are not comfortable then avoid them for shot taking.  Stick to regualr speed tourneys and tourenys with better structures.

You always get there first in these threads, haha. I find myself just being like “yup, I agree again”.

So, yeah, I agree here. I think if we have a few more BBs, 3betting becomes easier because he can perceive our 3bet/folding range as being a little wider. But here, shove is fine. After the flop, it's a trivial hand, there's nothing you can do but bet/call.
