Seems like the turn would've been the bluff spot.

I was trying to get him to fold a pair 22-JJ.

This is a flop which v should be betting more often then not, his check looked suspcious. I probably should had better bigger perhaps? I  just don't like checking this down as we don't have any SDV.

Villain has Ax quite a lot when he checks two streets.

If you don’t want to check down the board with no showdown value then why not bet the turn and follow through with a river barrel to represent Kx

I don't think he folds much here. I think he has ace high a very high % of the time when he checks flop and turn (he pretty much never has pairs 77-JJ here, I don't know why you think he wouldn't bet flop with those – his flop check isn't 'suspicious', it's just indicative of a showdown-value type hand), and if he does, he chops with any other ace high on river, so he's not folding.

I also think defending the big blind with this hand on 20bb is perhaps a little suspect if you're not confident postflop. You can definitely defend wide here, but probably not that wide.

I do agree with you ginger. Just those juicy odds we're gettingpre , makes me wanna call. If we get a piece off the flop then we can play poker from there if not just c/f. I was thinking to bet turn and river actually , just never had the balls to do it.  I thought maybe v might get tricky with AK/KJ and stuff like that , but when they checed back twice , it was pretty clear they never had much of a strong hand.

however at the same time v ain't always checking back trips here, they're checking back a lof of their range, like Ax Qx Jx, marginal hands as you metioned.
