Live £40 tournament, full of unknowns and a few regulars I have seen before.
I have Ts7c on button at 50/100, sitting on around 10,000
Raise 400 after two limps from similar stacks. Blinds fold and both limpers call.
Flop Qc 6s 9s
Checked to me. I bet 625.
Fold from one, and call from the other limper – I have no read on the guy at all.
Turn 8s.
Caller almost instantly leads 1225.
I think it’s good card for him to bluff, I’ve got straight with the T flush draw. Should I raise here? I tried to narrow his range a little on that flop by asking myself what’s his check calling range if he limp calls 4x pre. Small pair, maybe low suited ace, or just weak ace, possibly any two unpaired broadway cards, and of course middle connectors. This turn is right in that range and also it is a spot that makes sense for naked ace of spades to bluff. I think JT might raise the flop, most queens except a queen with a spade draw might raise flop too. I think more than likely he is on a bluff.
So I call.
River Qs.
Villain checks – what do you do here?

Pretty easy check behind on river – what worse hands would call a bet?
I definitely wouldn’t raise turn, what would that accomplish? When you can only beat a bluff, you should be choosing between calling and folding, not calling and raising.
Also, you say V could be bluffing with the naked As, but how could he get this far in the hand with that? What is an example of a naked As hand that would call your flop bet?
Would you raise these limpers pre-flop with any two cards? If not, why did you choose this hand to do it?

Thanks for the feedback. Yes, I don’t see any other river play than check back. To answer:
1. Maybe it is wrong with my terminology, but when I say naked As bluff I mean he is betting with the Ace of spades and any other card to represent having the made nut flush.
2. Hands I think he could have gotten this far played as is with naked As could be AsQx, AsTx, As6x, As9x. In this tournament I saw opponents limping AcQc and TT under the gun and flatting raises, so anything is possible in these low stakes live games. Does the fact that they possibly made a pair mean that the terminology I am using is wrong, and that having, say, As6h and leading turn as a bluff on Qc 6s 9s 8s is betting bottom pair with potential to represent nut flush?
3. I would not necessarily raise with any two cards here – but I find T7o ok for raising two limpers when I am on the button. This was all about having position on two players who have shown no strength and generally just want to see flops. I am c-betting here a high proportion of the time. Plus, I think it is easy enough to play this hand in position and if I were to smash the flop it’s pretty disguised, and if it didn’t hit his limp calling range then he has to fold to c-bet on most flops. It’s second level of a tournament, so stacks are still pretty deep.
So, how horrible is my thinking here?
