Sunday Storm Correct Shove?

Hi, would be interested to hear whether you think i made the correct shove here.  Down to the last 90 odd players in Pokertars Sunday Storm [the weekend just gone] — i have 1.4 million in chips, blinds are 50k / 100k [average stack at this point is 2.2 million].  UTG+1 opens for 200k [has 3.2 million], a shorts shoves for 250k and i re-shove all in with 88.

Had no real info on the UTG+1 player as he had recently joined the table [and doubled more or less staright away].  Im thinking i could possibly get him to fold broadway cards, AJ, A10 possibly AQ and at this point i dont mind flipping as i want to make a run at the FT.  He calls and he has Tens, and i lose.

While i felt at the time it was the correct play,  i was wondering considering that the average was only 22bb at that point, and considering the 32k payout for first i maybe could have waited for a better spot? My main reason for this, is that i had no info on the player, where as on other players i def could have made a more informed decision based on my reads.

Would appreciate any feedback

Thats a pretty close spot. UTG+1 could def be raise/folding a lot of hands in that spot so we are getting an excellent price against the shorty if we shove.  They can't call off that weak since it would be 1/3 of their stack.  Playing for the win I don't mind a shove.  The average stack is only 22bbs and we are already down to 14.  We have to take some chances and give ourselves the best chance at that 32k payout to first.

Is ICM a consideration here?   was there a pay jump of any meaningful amount soon?

In any case, in these spots (77-99, AT, AJ) I tend to take the more aggresive line when I have had the chance to see if UTG+1 is opening often. maybe I'm wrong but I think I can get an idea with maybe 10 hands (in the absence of good stats obv), and usually someone just coming in to the table even if they just doubled up is very seldom opening light from UTG+1 with 32BBs so close to the FT.

I would apreciate thoughts on this as I have been thinking I am leaving too much value on the table and really get no valid info most of the time

Thx for the feedback guys. I agree Cougars, at the time i felt it was the right play, i felt it was a close call as well [mainly as i said he was a new player to the table], but my feeling was to play for the win and to do so, you have to sometimes take high variance spots to win or FT MTTs. To many times, i think i dont take these spots and end up getting too low in chips.

Isaac, as for ICM considerations, i was keeping an eye on the pay structure — from memory there were no major jumps from say 90 -40 ish, so i decided to take my spot.  I agree with your thoughts on having more info on the guy but at this point i felt i still had some fold equity another orbit and that goes with another blind increase.

Its a pretty close spot, but if im playing for the win, i think a shove there is probably the best move.

Cheers.

+1 to cougars although I would like to see the HH because if OR was opening on other stacks (especially multiple) with 10-15 bbs or less I would assume he is fairly strong and willing to call most of those stacks when they jam. What position did u jam from? Lots to consider here as it is deep in a tourney that matters.

Hi Danny, i was in the small blind — should have mentioned that. From memory he was cl on our table and there were prob multiple shoving stacks as the average was only 22bb at that time.  So i take your point, do you feel a fold would be better?
