Ok i was going to post this in ask the pros as this play was made by a guy that has won some big tournaments online. But here goes and see what ye think.

I saw the hand on Pokerstars TV coverage of the Sunday million Feb 22nd 2015. The hand is at the 12 minute mark.

it is 7 handed on the final table of the Sunday Million on Pokerstars. The blinds are 250,000/500,000.

Our hero is Geomanousos and he is in the big blind. after posting the blind he has 2,034,385 chips left.

The Villain utg+1 who is the chip leader with 31,781,000 chips raises to 1,250,000 and it is folded around to our hero who makes the call with 8d 7s.

The flop is Ad, Js 9h

Hero who is first to act pushes his last 1,284,385 chips and the villain calls with 10c Qs

Turn is 6s and the river is 7c.

So guys what was the hero doing calling pre flop ?

Is this a Stop and Go play and that he had his mind made up that he was shoving on any flop except one the he smashes ?

He went on to win the Tournament for over $211,000

It seems like he realizes he has no fold equity before the flop with such a small stack against a huge stack and his hand is weak, so he can try to get some fold equity after the flop. I don't think it's very likely to get the chip leader to ever fold but if there's some chance he folds the flop and no chance he folds before, the stop n go may be a marginally better option.

He won't have any FE post flop either, unless V totally whiffs the flop, but V has to call with like K and probably Q high on every board, so ya. no FE post either. Might be a plan to just see if he hits any of it and if not, fold and pray??
