Hey guys. Wondering about everyones thoughts on this.

At my local club we have a 2 step sattelite to one of the major tournies here in NZ.

1st step is $100+10 10man STT, 10k starting stack, blinds start at 25/50 with 30min levels. I'm more than comfortable with my game against everyone at my club. Theres a couple guys who have had very big cashes but are not what i'd call SOLID players.

1st place only gets into step 2.

The step 1's run for approx 8 or 9 weeks.

In theory there should be 9 runners in step 2 with a total prize pool of 9k which would equate to 2 x 4k packages and 3rd place get 1k cash.

The thing is, the club allows for people to keep registering for step 1's every week.

So now we are 4 weeks in and PK has won 2 weeks, LC and myself have won 1 each. and in the step 2 STT if you have won twice like PK you get double the starting stack, and if you have won 3 times you get triple the starting stack etc etc

My question is; SHould i keep registering every week for the next 6 weeks and go for a larger starting stack in the step 2 and against less players? or should i just risk no more money in the step 1's and have a normal starting stack in the STT against more players?

The only reason i ask is that, in theory, having a 2xstarting stack does not give me 2xchance of winning right? so should i risk up to $600 more or stay as i am after spending only $200 to get where i am now?

Interesting. I definitely just take my chances with a normal stack in step two. You are already in, no need to risk hundreds more. As long as blind structure is decent in step two, I would not be worried about it.

I'd take my chances with a normal stack.  The blind structure does matter as the people with 2x and 3x stacks are going to have an advantage but with 1st and 2nd paying out the same it's not as huge of an advantage to having a 2x or 3x stack.

Thanks guys

I have been thinking about this for a while. It may be to my advantage to keep playing the step 1's just to try and prevent the other 2 guys whom i perceive as pretty good players from getting into step 2 to give myself a better chance.

Now that i think about it, i'd be paying $100 to essentially try and target and knock someone out which would be difficult in itself and not optimal bankroll management!

I agree'd with ya'll about keeping the starting stack so ill just try from where i am and make sure i have a clear mind come 5 weeks time.

I'll keep posted when the final comes
