Re-raise pre to narrow his range a bit. Ugly spot now, guess I'm folding. Would call any normal sized bet on the river.

As Played:

1. You underrepresented your hand

2. You haven't shown any strength

3. its a massive overbet

From his point of view it looks a lot like a weak pair he can push you off of or most likely a flush draw and you didn't get there.

I dont like that he opened from UTG, but the only hand that makes sense that you lose here to is AA, not many 8s on an UTG range, and 99 also unlikely. you beat any other broadway or TT-KK and random draws.

I get it that there is time in the tourney and you have plenty of chips but it looks so much like he is trying to push you off the hand that I say Hero CALL and hope you just built a monster stack.  if he happens to have a random 8 or A9 well……its a $10 tourney, if it was the WSOP Main event ok, I fold.

That is one problem with not raising Pre or at any point on later streets, if you are trapping this is what you wanted.

I would reraise pre and Call a 4bet (say raise to 1500, then call as much as 5000 and shove An or K high flop as we are pretty deep, if I happen to just call the pre flop raise or if he calls the 3bet I definitely raise to charge heart draws on flop.

I actually like the way you played the hand

I always make a conscious effort to remind myself in-game when my hand is underrepped though.. eg when you flat KK from BTN or whatever it may be, and as isaac says, our hand is underrepped here

I also agree with the go leafs goeh statement you make that we want to play our hand for value vs every other A in his hand and dont want them to fold at any point

There is one line we could have taken differenty which is to raise his flop Cbet for value as we could easily have F draw and he would probably continue with a lot of his range

River bet is pretty horrible but to re-iterate isaacs thoughts

we are underrepped and have shown no interest in the hand

it looks like he's trying to make us fold rather than get value from our 'weak' hand

and whats that other quote? 'triple barrells are like tree's on a golf course – 90% air'smile or something of that nature

i'd probably hero call and hope he flips over QheartJheart
