Hey guys I am learning here by the videos and watch as0much as and when possible as I work 12 hour days. I have started reading mtt books and was wondering if this is correct and would it have a detrimental impact on my progress as I feel it might be contradicting the online play. The book btw is lol fulltilt poker tournament strategy and I have read tpf 1 by sneider.

All information is helpful, but practice is they key. I have not read the FT book, but have heard good things about it. “Kill Everyone” is an excellent MTT book that I got a lot out of. Once you get your game going and understand the concepts in the videos I would recommend.

Winning Tournament Poker One hand at a Time.

The above mentioned book allows you to journey inside the mind of the pro during his thought process and most hands are taken from online play.  Both these books along with TPE has helped me greatly and I play primarily online.

Ya, Theory is great…but a theory is just that w/o practice or experimentation.  From personal experience being a 4 year casual live winning player/losing micro player online.  I have learned ALOT here…However, nothing can show you what VARIANCE is all about until you play…you gotta play to develop a “feel” for the game.  You can read all the books in the world and watch all the videos…but until you play there just words and images.   My advice, spend a whole day reading/watching videos like 8-12 hrs (may seem alot but your subconcious is absorbing EVERYTHING you read/watch)  then play for about 2 weeks.  Then have another study day, then play…study…play..ext…   I would also stick to micro small field tourneys if your just starting out…if you got the money to jump right into the $10-$20 games gr8…go for it.  However, its easy to build a basic foundation for the game playing solid and tight AGGRESSIVe.

So…

Play…Play…Play…and PLAY some more

Study

DO NOT BE AFRAID TO LOSE!!!!!  So important…this is what finally opened my eyes and took me from being a passive fish to a predator.   Another reason I advise micros…I mean Who cares about winning $2-3?? all that matters in a lil $1 tourney is the 1st place like $100 or so (small field tourney 400-700)  Also at first I just wanted to play big gurantees, to chase that big score….Final tables are not as hard to hit as you might think….

Just play and study…do it in intervals…you will learn new things EVERY TIME you do a study session…and you will find your more “Intuned” to the game after each session.

Remember…even if all the words or videos blurr together for YOU…your SUBCONCIOUS is absorbing EVERYTHING you read/watch and is filing it away and every time you RE READ/WATCH/Come across same situation your subconcious will go uh…WTF? I remember this….last 10 times an asshole did this he had a small pair so my 77's are priolly good.  Your subconcious does that in MICRO seconds…. Just something to keep in mind…the human mind Truelly is magnificant.

Well ive rambled long enough…just DO IT!!! dont give up, stay determined till you hit your first couple FT's then everything will just start to fall into place

That book is actually pretty good IMO.  Like anything you just want to take the best from it and apply it to your game as best as you can.  Nothing can replace playing and putting what you learn to good work.  And most importantly make sure you are talking hands with friends and posting hands in the chat room and the fourms.

Playing deepstacked is pretty rare in online MTTs, but if you have any desire to play live (cash or tournaments), or just want to become a more well-rounded poker player, check out Professional No Limit Hold'em by Ed Miller.  His presentation of the SPR concept is absolute gold, and it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to say that this concept might be THE secret to deepstacked poker.

(Whether deep or shallow, being able to play your stack correctly is crucial to poker success.)

Be careful with Snyder's book. He advocates aggressively defending your bb. After reading his material re this, it's real easy to get carried away with that concept and may lead

you to play too many bloated pots oop.
