I am going to be playing my 1st ever 2 day Tournament in 1 week, it has 10000 starting chips and 30 minute levels for €200+20. The casino is going to be an hour drive for most of the locals (including me).

I was thinking how being shortstacked  close to the end would proably make most players just risk it all on marginal hands to try and be in a better position for day two, and save them the time and money of getting back to the casino the next day if they lost it all.

Also I figured that mid and big stacks might play much more timid as they are in good positions for starting out on day 2 (giving me more blind stealing and re raising oppotunities if my bets were just the rite size to put them from a mid stack to a small one).

Does anyone have any Strategies for playing these stages of a Live Tournament?

Thanks…

I would recommend just reacting to how things at your table go.  I've been in many situations where people at the end of a day 1 don't have any interest in coming back unless they have a big stack and punt off a lot of chips with awful hands.  Since you do have an hour drive if you find yourself short stacked towards the end of the day I may push a much closer edge then I would normally, just because you don't want to come back with an extremely short stack because you are also going to be wasting another day and your time has to be worth some value.

Thanks alot Shaun, I figured the dynamics might have changed like that, just needed the clarification so I could be ready for it before I got to that stage. Personally I will not be changing my style except for to adapt to the others changing theirs, I dont really mind the drive and will just class it as being a normal mid tourney with a proable extra few nutters out there.

 Cheers, Paul 🙂
