So the Multi Entry tournament format has turned me off the Mini FTOPs and has caused me to re-evaluate some of my goals for 2011. Upon the rethought I figured I would give myself a bit of a challenge/test and see if I could push myself. The plan right now is to attempt to win a WSOP ME seat from AP through their Step Tournament system (starts at 10c in Level 1 and awards the seat at $500+30 Level 10). My goal is to take $100 (1000 buyins for Level 1) and attempt to do this. What I was wondering was what do you gents think about in terms of ticket level BRM. I think that a 100 ticket buy-in rule does not feel potentially realistic, while some sort of an inverted pyramid system may be more realistic (fewer low level tickets progressively increasing as I increase level). I was curious what you fellas think about how to manage the Step Ticket BRM as you attempt to progress through the levels. Thanks for the thoughts.

First of all,I love your idea! I was looking for a similiar challange, I like the idea of having a huge goal made of little goals. Can you cash out your step tickets for actual cash? Assuming you could cash you could grind 100 level 1 games at first and then grind all the level 2 games you won tickets to, etc. etc. If you win your seat you could cash out remaining tickets, if not you fire up another 100 and go again. You could do this with any number in the beginning, but 100 does not seem so daunting. You will be doing each level at a time, instead of multiple levels at once. You buyin to 100 L1 and you walk away with 60 L2 tickets, then grind all the L2 for x amount of L3, etc……. You can always adjust the starting number to what you like: 50, 100, 150….. Just an idea, hope it is not confusing, I think I am confused.

You can't cash out your tickets on AP to money or T$ so you are stuck with the tickets, which I am not all that upset about as I am looking to play more live so if this works out I would be willing to use this more as a mechanism to sat/play more in them. I am assuming that there will be some diminishing return from level to level which is sort of what I am trying to figure out how to balance.

In that case I would set some type of goal, earn x amount of L1 tickets and then move to L2 and so forth. You would still have BR left over if you needed to start again. If you win your seat not bad for around $100 investment. GLGL

Very interesting. The step 1's I think are 11c with rake and the step 10's are $2,350. It's kind of tough with ticket level BRM. What I'd personally suggest is maybe starting with the step 3's that are $1.10 each and try and build it up from there. You have to think starting at the 1's and 2's is going to take a lot of time and probably won't make a ton at them? What you also have to consider is how many of these run at a time. They don't run nearly as often as the Stars and FTP steps do. For instance right now at about primetime for Cereus there is only 1 step 7 running and 2 step 6's. So if I was you I'd take the $100 and play 90 step 1's and then keep going from there and see how many step 10 tickets you can get. If you can get even one step 9 $800 ticket you have to think you did pretty well off your initial $100 investment.
