This is my first posted question so I hope I am in the right section. My question is simple, what is an acceptable statistic for hands gone to show down vs hands won at show down.  My other statistics are right in line with a TAG style, but I haven't seen any mention of what this ratio should be in order to be competitive in MTT.

I am really enjoying watching MTT videos. Love the site.

wish I could answer this, but to be honest I have no idea.  I know the absolute minimum when it comes to statistics.

Welcome to the site, though!

I wouldn't use these statistics so much for determining if an opponent is a TAG, LAG, etc but with how they play post flop. These stats are great for how they read and play the bored. If the WTSD and W$SD are very close then the player is only going to showdown with hands he feels comfortable will win and he usually does. Meaning he can read the board well and know what hands he beats and what will beat him. In this situation you want to make sure you have the best hand. On the flip side if the WTSD is higher then W$SD he does not play post flop well and/or not very good at reading the board, you can open up your showdown range a bit.

In a nutshell if the WTSD and W$SD are very close to equal be afraid if you are not holding anything but the nuts. If the WTSD is much higher then W$SD then you can open up your range 2nd, 3rd, etc best hand.

This only applies to showdown, other statisitcs would be needed to know if you can push him off a hand before showdown.

I hope this makes since I confuse myself most of the time. I am not a Pro and not sure if I should reply to post in this section but I

am in grad school for mathematical related science so I felt compelled.

i don't think i've ever heard anyone use those stats in context of MTTs.  Perhaps because so few hands go to showdown?

I think you are right about that, I play more cash games then MTT but now that I think about it the showdown frequency in MTTs is a lot lower. Very good point!

not a big stat when it comes mtt poker but just like anything stay over 50% in his situation seeing the pots you win be alot larger then the ones you lose. with there being minimal showdowns in nlhe tourneys that i would not be to cocerned with this stat. poker stars stat box does give u this info with pots won stat and pots won at showdown stat so try to keep track over the next few months and see what the numbers look like on profitable days as to loseing days and try to come with some analysis would be interested in seeing this.
