Villain wouldn't do this with a made flush already, but thinking A high FD w/ pair maybe?

Call or fold?

At these stakes villain could do this with a low flush and shoves for protection but perhaps more to get worse hands to call him off as it looks bluffy. Way too many chips to call off with just 6 outs (two 7's, two 4s for a fully and two for the straight flush). No need to call off 55bb with another bluffcatcher.

87 for the gutter also got there, so except for (semi-)bluffs you wont be ahead most of the times.

Agree with your ranging.  Also gotta include two overs to go along with the nut fl dr. Either way, we r never in great shape here if we call.

If we r gonna play for our stack here, we should be the aggressor – not the caller. Pretty frustrating because we prob know what he has,

but racing with our big stack at this stage in a mtt where we prob have a big skill edge is pretty gambly imo.

i’d fold here

he def has a made hand – looks like 87 that hit gutter or SC’s that got there for the flush and is scared of getting outdrawn

we’ve got 4 outs against an almost 3x pot bet

I would be 3betting pre or raising this flop. I want to take control at some point and ask them to define their ranges.

Fold turn here he has you beat too much, you have a nice stack with little invested, don't risk it

“you have a nice stack with little invested, don't risk it” – Exactly my thinking, but tempted with the SFD out there!

Also agree that I was too passive, taking control always gives us more chances to win the pot.  I'm fairly new to MTTs (45s SnG player) and not used to the deepstack play, defo a weakness in my game.  Would you 3bet all PP if in pos with these stacks, at this level?  How about OOP?

i would 3 bet him preflop here because of his stack. If it was bigger I might be more inclined to setmine, but since we can’t setmine profitably when he only has 23bb to start the hand, I want another way of winning the pot. Taking control and putting pressure on him for his tournament life will give me another way of winning it without being dependent on me hitting a flop or him missing it. It also stops people who may be thinking about a squeeze and isolating him if he takes it to a flop

I agree with Goliath..you aren't getting the odds to set mine with the villains open.  I think you 3 bet if you decide to play isolating him also showing him pre that you aren't folding to a just a flat.  The button has a 4 bet shoving stack, but if you 3 bet the right sizing you can also get away from a 4 bet jam..I think again this is a 3 bet pre or fold, no call, bc you are only trying to hit your set to win imo.  In most cases overs will hit and you will probably be in a spot to fold to a c bet.
