I was playing a 90 minutes tournament on stars the other night. At the end of 90 minutes the amount you get paid is relative to how many chips you have.

With 30 seconds to go at the final table, the stack sizes are as follows:   9k, 60k, 41k, 12k, 36k, 8k and 8k.

Blinds are 400/800

I am utg+1 with QQ with 41k (51bb). Utg open ships 36k (38bb) utg with 30 seconds to play. Villain had just lost a big flip for half his stack but I felt that he wouldn't be needlessly shoving super light here and he was quite nitty before that. I understand that QQ is going to be ahead of a range that consists of AKo,AKs, some AQs and any pair.

My thoughts are that if I take a huge flip here with AK, isnt this bad for ICM saying that I am gaurenteed to get paid a lot regardless of this hand.

I feel like QQ is a call but what do we do with JJ and AK here after utg ships 30bb into the entire table and we still have the whole table to act after we do. Thoughts on QQ, JJ and AK would be appreciated

Can you explain the structure a little bit more please? Are you paid only based on how many chips you have or are you also paid a certain amount for surviving. If you are paid a certain amount $ per chip then you should be playing completely +cEV. Construct a range for UTG and see what is the worst hand you can call with given your pot odds. Then take out the bottom of your range because there are players left to act.

Packallama is right: ICM is not applicable to these tourneys at all, as each chip has a fixed $-value attached to it.
