Comrades,
I would like to put to you the below hand and get your thoughts on it. Villain is CO, I'm SB. Early on, when short stacked to 15BB, I played aggressively with a few all-in raises and 3bets. I doubled up with a monster. Since that double up I played tight (folded) for about 20 hands. Villain raises from the CO and the story unfolds.
Please note that we are in the bubble (80 seats away from the money). My personal take on the hand is that I should have let it go and I was pretty stupid trying to defend my blind on what I felt was a steal. Moving beyond that, i want to know what you think of the betting pattern, especially on the turn and the river. I clearly have no fold equity on the river so betting was pretty stupid. On the other hand, should/could I have gone all-in on the turn? I felt my turn bet was pretty strong and he clearly had a strong opinion on what I was holding. However, my opinion is that going all-in on the turn would have looked weaker.
Thanks for your help

I think you already answered the obvious best line to take and that is fold pre-flop. The problem is that I don't think you are deep enough to try to outplay him on the flop, turn, and river to steal the pot away from him, even if you think he is just trying to steal blinds and antes. I hate getting myself into these spots. I think there are plenty of better spots you can find than this. And he obviously had some amazing read on what you were doing. Wow. So that is why I advocate folding pre-flop.
With that being said, if you decide you are making your stand against him this hand, I think a better line after your pre-flop 3-bet would be possibly a check-shove on the flop. I think that is the best way you'll have fold equity and make your hand look super strong.

I fold pre, no need to try bully here. Prefer putting people to the test in pos. don’t hate doing this every now and again oop as it looks strong but prefer doing so with suited aces/connectors/gappers that can flop something decent/easier to play post. Q3 is pushing it oop IMO.
Great read by villain or reckless ??? Maybe he has a note on u from another tourney based on your description.

This is why 3betting light is pretty redundent in MTTs these days without the piror read that the player folds to many 3bets. This is especially true against players like me who hate folding to 3bets in potision and will defend their buttons liberally and not give up on pots easily. Yes villians call down is hugely EV negative but thats what you get for making plays without reads and 3betting with the wrong range against the wrong opponents. As for the hand, if you were to play it i would prefer to defend with call other than a 3bet and make plays on boards through check/raises and floats on boards that hit your flatting range then bluffing good runouts and stuff like that. But honestly you should of folded pre as you dont get dealt to many worse hands than Q,3 offsuit it has apsolutely no or very little big pot potential.
