Hi everyone,

I hope this subject hasn't been posted on before. I just played in my first few real money SNG 9 man tourneys, and I got to the final 5 (busted out 5th) in the second one. I was playing in the beginner 9 man at Bovada.

I busted out in the stage or the tourney when everyone was starting to jam preflop and it made me realize I don't really know the right strategy for this stuff.

I've watched the MTT Math Vid which I think is pretty relevant, but I was wondering if someone can provide some additional resources for study of the theory behind these situations. I need to do alot of study of the theory involved so I can decide what to fold with, what to shove with, how position plays a role, and estimating hand ranges for the proper play. Good books or threads or other vids on the topic would be nice. It seems pretty complicated to me. Also, I was wondering is this the common play that occurs at final tables and what kind of conditions are there for this type of play to start?

Thanks!

download the sitngo wizard. i think you get like a free 30 day trial. this will dramatically improve your sng play.

it also would be helpful to actually post a hand here, because sometimes general questions are met with general answers which dont really help as much as you would like.

There's a series on DC where they took a guy who knew nothing about SNGs and made him a grinder. I would take a look at it.

They have a free trial i think.

I really just struggled in terms of calling loose and being patient I think. I had a bigger stack before I made loose calls.

I called with 9 5 suited and people turned over A J.

I made a second stupid move with K Q suited and the guy had gone all in from early position and showed queens.

Kind of shows that I'm a beginner.

It seems to me though that the pros in their videos on here are so sure about what range to shove, call or fold with when there in late position or SB, BB. I'd like to get like that and understand the theory better.

There are loads of SNG vids on TPE. Check them out, that will be all the theory you need to start crushing the micro SNGs.
