This seems like a simple enough spot, but it got me thinking. I decided to raise here as I expected it to be profitable enough and if the BB shoved I would have the odds to call (2:1, 33%), which would be fine. However, I wonder if J9s actually does have the required equity to call here vs the BB's shove. Vs 88+,ATs+,AJo+ (32.716%) we don't have enough equity, but if we add ATo (33.821%) then we do. I can't expect this player to 3bet much wider than that, so when it's this close are we making a big mistake by folding here?

The guy has 7bbs, he's going to be shoving alot wider than what you've narrowed him down to.
In these spots I like to 4x, showing the short stack I'm definately not folding – increasing the steal success. It also shows the big stack I'm strong enough to call off this guy so they will fold similar, and slightly better hands than J9s.
