Hi I was playing 5.40 1 rebuy 1 add on.

Was grinding the tourney for 5 hrs and the blinds were steep 30 players left in tourney

I had 10 big blinds left in mp2 around average stack or just below average I was getting frustrated because I just was not getting any cards till I got A7 off suit and decided to jam hoping to pick up the blinds and anties and run in to AQ in the big blind who was chip leader and opening every hand as you would expect him /her to do.

My quistion here is it a jam or min raise this far in a tourney or just a fold just need to know if I made a stupid decision out of frustration put my mind at rest and not make the mistake again if I can help it.

Hey PokerDan,

I would be basing a decision like this heavily using ICM. With 10BB you have no room to be min raise folding. You need to get it in a good spot and hopefully double up. Shoving with A7o w/ 10BB into chip leader who sounds to be a maniac is the worst player to shove against. I would fold in this spot. That being said if you find that everyone is folding and the table dynamic is very tight than this may be a good spot to open shove but based on your information it doesn’t sound like it.

Hello PokerDan

You can push pretty wide range when you have 10bb stack. Google – Jennifear Push/Fold Chart. These charts contain different size antes also.

For sure check out that chart, you will find that hands like 9Ts perform much better than hands like A7o in these spots
