fold, you aren't deep enough to have significant FE.

fold it. I know the A9s looks good, but you don't really have any equity and there is no way that raiser is going to fold to you. I think you end up racing or dominated, neither of which is a great outcome. When it comes to push/fold play I really really like to be the one who open shoves it. The gap concept is huge in these situations and A9s just isn't big enough to 3bet shove a MP open.

I shoved and knew I should have waited – these marginal spots get me often.

I need to be diligent about this..

All the advice here is spot on and LPG is spot on about push/fold play and wanting to be open shoving its so critical to be doing the shoving with as much FE as you can.

This is definitely a fold for me as you have very little fold equity and opener has raised knowing that he has to call your shove so probably has a better hand than A9s here. If you have 15-20BBs I prefer the shove, although I'd probably do it with hands like 22-88 and 98s, T9s, QJs, KJs. In this spot I need AJ+, KQ and 88 to get it in.

I think this hand has alot more to do with the opponents opening range and stack size understanding. If this was a lagtard that is raiseing 25%-30% when folded to in mp and doesnt pay attention to stack sizes around the table (which players genaraly dont at lower stakes ) then i think it is good to get it in here ahead of his range and take the gamble. The ranges others have given semi deep in a tourney seem way to tight of opening ranges to me even for a quiet tight player
